Its unique location on the intersection of many Balkan trading routes has always made Sofia a dynamic and crowded city. The history of the first settlements in this area dates back more than 7,000 years back, making Sofia one of the oldest capitals in Europe. Empires have risen and fallen, conquerors come and gone, but the city was an important trading and cultural hub during all times and epochs.

That’s why there are several hundred historical landmarks in the city today, and exploring them can be a fascinating yet a complex undertaking. Let me be your private guide in Sofia and with this tour we’ll visit the most impressive and interesting sites during our overview tour of the capital.

Our first stop during this tour will be at the the St. Alexander Nevski Cathedral and its famous crypt that houses many relics of the medieval art. We’ll also visit the ancient Saint Sofia basilica, which actually gave the city its current name. We’ll explore the ruins of the ancient fortress Serdica that was established by local tribes several thousand years ago and put the foundation to the city as we know it.

More modern sites such as the Presidency or the Unknown Soldier monument will also be included to our tour. Not to mention the numerous art museums, galleries, traditional gift shops and shopping malls, which are abundant in Sofia. You will surely be impressed by the diversity and beauty of the Bulgarian capital, and I will be very pleased to show it to you.
