Queensland is a state of Australia, in the north-east of the country. It’s the second largest state by area – the state measuring is about 1,7 million square kilometers - and the third largest state by population – about 7,5 million people.
The capital of Queensland is Brisbane. Also it’s the largest city of state. Other major regional centers are the Gold Coast, Mount Isa, Mackay, Toowoomba, Townsville and Rockhampton. Queensland is often called the Sunshine State, since it enjoys warm weather and a sizable portion of the state is in the tropics.
Brisbane, the capital makes an brilliant base for touring the Gold Coast, "Australia's Playground" with everything you could possibly fancy at your fingertips. A little farther north is the Sunshine Coast, with its understated complexity and plentiful fine-dining at Noosa. Only a couple hours away is the
largest sandy island in the world, Fraser Island, where you can swim in any of the plentiful freshwater lakes and drive four wheel drives on the beaches. Sail around the Whitsundays and immerse yourself in the breathtaking views of the world-renowned Hill Inlet. Revel in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef in Cairns, your gateway to the rainforests and islands of Tropical North Queensland.
Enjoy the delights of this beautiful region, only an hour from Brisbane city. We cruise out of the city and at the historic city of Ipswich, we head south though the tiny town of Peak Crossing on our way to Boonah. We then head for the famous "Coochin Coochin" homestead for a delicious home cooked morning tea with the owners, Tim & Jane Bell. After an extensive tour of the property, we head for lunch at the exquisite Kooroomba lavender farm and winery for a gourmet lunch. After lunch if you love flying a possible option is to have a flight in 'state of the art' 2 seat glider from the nearby airfield. We begin our journey back to Brisbane through the towns of Boonah, Kalbar and Ipswich with some of the best preserved colonial buildings in Queensland. If you are interested in Australian wildlife, this tour has it all!
