Antwerp is a city and a municipality and the chief centre of commerce in Flanders and Belgium; it is capital of Antwerp province, in Flanders, one of Belgium's three regions.

Antwerp is a splendid city with numerous architectural highlights, most of which date from the 16th and the 17th century. The past is also represented by the numerous paintings of Peter Paul Rubens who lived in the Antwerp of the early 17th century. Three major painting of his may be seen in the Cathedral of our Lady, a masterpiece of lace work in stone. Begun in 1352, it is one of the finest gothic buildings in Europe. Moreover Antwerp is the diamond center of the World. If diamonds really are a girl's best friend, than a lot of ladies will not leave out a visit to the diamond district around the Railway Station. This area is also the Jewish part of the city. The presence of many 'Chassidic' Jewish people gives the city a flair that cannot be found in other Belgian cities.
In the medieval centuries, Antwerp was one of the most significant cities in the Low Countries both culturally and economically. It is situated on the right bank of the river Scheldt which is linked to the North Sea by the Westerschelde. The port, one of the world's largest and in Europe coming behind only Rotterdam and Hamburg, has a high level of cargo shipping and oil refineries.

I liked most of all Sint Jacobskerk - very interesting facade, hidden among flowerings trees, the church in the inside looks like a museum: fanciful gravestones of prominent townspeople give the church specific atmosphere.
Also Vleeshuis - from afar it looks like the good fleshy piece of ham, and nearby it seems that you are in old times.
Also we saw and visited a lot of interesting places. A tour was well organized and guide (thank you very much) was very attentive and presented the information very interestingly.
