Our driver and guide will pick you up at your hotel, the first stop on this tour is the famous artisan community of Sarchi. The Chavarria family artisan shop will be visited, a wonderful array of souvenirs and locally crafted, original items can be purchased here. You can have these goods shipped direct to your home from here if you desire, eliminating the need to carry them around for the remainder of your vacation. From Sarchi you are transported to the wonderfully unique Alfaro?s Wood Shop. 25 years ago the Alfaro family made 6 captain's chairs and dining table for Jim Procter's (Mother Ocean co-owner) home at the beach. Those chairs and table are in perfect functioning order today. 90% of all the tools used in this factory are powered by a water wheel...NO electricity! This antiquated system is used to make some of the finest decorative ox cart wheels in the country.
