Karlstejn Castle named after Charles IV, the Czech king and the Emperor of The Holy Roman Empire. Construction of the castle started in 1348. Each courtyard is high then the former one and finished with castle tower, Big Tower with a chapel of a Holy Cross in which royal relics, including a crown of The Holy Roman Empire were stored. Management and castle defence was governed by Burgraf in which submission was a garrison of the vassals, who had around the castle their houses.

During excursion in the castle you will hear its history and information about the most prominent person in Czech history.In honour of Charles IV named Karlstein Castle and the nearby village, Carlsbad, Charles Bridge, Charles Square ,Charles University, Charles street. He is still regarded as Pater Patriae -father of the country. He founded The New town of Prague. It is the biggest medieval town in the world according to its square.

During his reign appeared St. Vitus Cathedral and Hunger wall. He received education in France and was fluent in Latin, Czech, German, French and Italian languages.
