Wli Waterfall Tour
Expedition in Ho
Guide in Ghana: Dela Tekpor Fumador
This one day trip starts from Ho the Volta Regional capital at 5 am to visit one of the only two monkey sanctuaries in Ghana. We walk around the Tafi Atome village or in the beautiful forest in search and viewing of various colonies of the mona monkeys as they look in their natural habitat. We eat breakfast and listen to the story of how the monkeys co-exist with the people.
Then we drive on to the highest waterfall in Ghana – to Wli. Wli Waterfalls cascades from a height of 60-80 meters, and is the highest falls in West Africa and second in Africa. Then will be rest stop at a town in the mountainous Volta Region - Hohoe a district capital in the Volta Region, where we also have access to standard washroom facilities, have cold drinks and take a short walk around town and head to Wli where the waterfall is.
We walk here about 45 minutes through a lush rain forest viewing different kinds of trees, plant etc. with the landscape made up of rock cliffs and mountains, as we cross the same stream of the waterfall several times before getting to the falls. We swim in the huge pool under the waterfalls or get to the under of it and get pounded by the water with rainbow colours circling around on sunny days. And thousands of fruit bats sometimes flying above the fall area.
We eat packed picnic lunch due to the far distance of a restaurant from the area and enjoy native music with drumming and singing. Visitors interested in trying their hand on the drum are encouraged to do so. We also stop by at art shops on our way back where you can get some beautiful artifacts for yourself or, for friends and relatives back home. We arrive back by 6 p.m. leaving a smile on the face and sweet memories of the day in mind. This trip always comes on at least once in every month. | Add your Opinion about this guide and tour here |
