DAY 1 - ARRIVE ACCRA Arrive in Accra late evening, met, assisted and transferred to your hotel, Overnight at Coconut Regency hotel DAY 2 - ACCRA / ABURI City tour Accra and excursion to Aburi: Visit several points of interest including: Flag Staff House and Parliament House, Visit the colorful Makola Market, Accra's biggest traditional open air market. Experience the delight of walking between the stalls of multi colored materials, medicated herbs and tropical fruits, loudly recommended by the market women. Visit the Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, where Ghana's first president has been laid to rest. In the afternoon we will visit Aburi, well known for its healthy climate and the century old botanical gardens. Overnight at Coconut Regency hotel. DAY 3 FORT AMSTERDAM/ CAPE COAST After breakfast, travel along the beautiful coastal road to the historic Cape Coast Castle. En route visit the village of Abanzi . Continue to Fort Amsterdam to see the fishermen bargaining for the best prices for the daily catch. In the late afternoon tour the Cape Coast Castle and historical museum. Overnight at Coconut Grove Resort. DAY 4 - CAPE COAST/ ELMINA Early morning excursion to the Kakum National Park. Escorted tour of the of 2 kilometer long Kuntan Trail, trek through the tropical forest with natures medicinal plants and herbs. The optional, very adventurous and exciting walk on the Canopy Walkway is recommended for those who do not fear heights. In the afternoon you will have a conducted tour through the Elmina Castle, a World Heritage Site. This castle is the earliest known European building on the coast of Africa, built by the Portuguese in 1482 and later used as the main auction market and garrison for the slave trade. Of special interest are the slave dungeons, the auction market and the Portuguese Church. A visit to the Elmina fish market ends todays program. Overnight at Coconut Grove Resort. DAY 5 - CAPE COAST/ KUMASI After breakfast, depart to the capital of the Ashanti Region. The Ashanti forms the biggest population group in Ghana. For centuries they were the rulers in this region because of their well organized society. In the afternoon you will visit the "Manhyia Palace". At "Manhyia Palace" disputes are still settled in accordance with the centuries old customs, where the king has the final word. Overnight at Miklin Hotel. DAY 6 - KUMASI After an excursion to the neighboring craft villages, Pankrono, Ahwiaa and Ntonso we continue to Adanwomaase Kente village, where you will be welcomed by the Kente Chief with traditional music and dance for a Cultural afternoon with a demonstration of the Kente weaving. Overnight at Miklin Hotel DAY 7 - KUMASI Morning city tour including a visit to the Kejetia central market, the biggest market in West Africa. In the afternoon, decide on your activities with the assistance of your driver and guide. Overnight at Miklin Hotel. DAY 8 - MOLE NATIONAL PARK After early breakfast, we depart for our long drive partly through rough terrain for a visit to the largest Nature Park in Ghana, Mole National Park. Viewing en route the Savannah grassland, fascinating architecture sparsely dotted along the way. You will notice the obvious contrast in Cultures and life styles between the Southern and the Northern regions of Ghana. We stop at Larabanga to admire the ancient mosque and the magic stone, drive on to the Mole National Park, where we can watch the wildlife from the terrace of your motel where the animals come to drink and bath in the lake. Overnight at Mole Motel. DAY 9 - MOLE NATIONAL PARK After breakfast take a foot safari, accompanied by the park's experienced guide, in search of elephants and other animals in the wild. This afternoon relax on your verandah as you observe the animals drinking and bathing at the water hole. Overnight at Mole Motel. DAY 10 - KINT AMPO WATERFALLS / TECHIMAN Early morning departure to Techiman. After checking into your hotel take an excursion to the Kintampo waterfalls. Techiman is important because of its strategic position as crossroads for traffic from all regions of Ghana and to and from neighboring countries. Visit the market where you will find a wide assortment of pottery and other crafts. Overnight Premier Palace hotel. DAY 11 - BOABENG FIEMA MONKEY SANCTUARY Today visit the "Boabeng Fiema Monkey Sanctuary", where about 14 monkey colonies thrive. You may also visit the impressive Grotto near Techiman. Overnight at Miklin Hotel DAY 12 - ADA FOAH Travel to the coastal area where the Volta river meets the sea at Ada Foah. You will pass through several villages of interest where we will make several brief stops. Villages include: Nkawkaw, Koforidua, Somanya, Afienya and Dawenya. Check into Manet Paradise Beach Resort where you may enjoy water sports or just relax at the beach or poolside. Overnight at Manet Paradise Beach Resort. DAY 13 - ADA FOAH Spend the day on the Volta Lake in a small boat with stops at several small islands. Return to the resort for dinner and overnight. Overnight at Manet Paradise Beach Resort. DAY 14 - ADA FOAH/ ACCRA/ DEPARTURE After breakfast, return to Accra where you may relax or do last minute souvenir shopping before your late evening flight home.
