Day 1 - ADDIS ABABA International flight arrives in Ethiopia's capital where you will be welcomed, assisted and transferred to your hotel Day 2 - ADDIS ABABA After breakfast take a city tour of Addis Ababa including visits to: the National Archaeological Museum which houses the 3.6 million years old skeleton of LUCY, Mount Entonto Merkato the largest open-air market in Africa (B, D) Day 3 - ADDIS ABABA/ BAHAR DAR Fly to Bahar Dar and transfer to your hotel. Drive to the majestic Blue Nile Falls before you take a boat trip on Lake Tana to visit the 13th century monastery of Ura Kidane Mihres and Kibhran Gabriel. (B, D) Day 4 - BAHAR DAR/GONDAR Fly to Gondar to visit the Castles and Churches of Gondar built by King Fassiladas and his descendants. (B, D) Day 5 - GONDAR/LALIBELA Fly to Lalibela and visit the first group of rock-hewn churches which were built between 800 & 1200 AD and are still active places of worship. (B, D) Day 6 - LALIBELA/AXUM Fly to Axum to visit the coronation yard, Queen of Sheba's Palace ruins, Axum Tsion repository of the Ark of Covenant and much more. (B, D) Day 7 - AXUM/ ADDIS ABABA Fly to Addis Ababa for overnight. (B, D) Day 8 - FLY TO GHANA Flight arrives Accra, Ghana. Upon arrival, you will be met, assisted and transferred to your hotel. Orientation. The remainder of the day at leisure. (B, D) Day 9 - KAKUM NATIONAL PARK Depart to Kakum National Park. Experience the Canopy Walkway. Continue to Cape Coast. (B, D) Day 10 - CAPE COAST Tour of Cape Coast Castle, Elmina Castle and the Historical Museum. See the slave dungeons. Tour the historic village of Elmina. (B, D) Day 11 - KUMASI Depart to Kumasi the realm of the Ashanti Kingdom, arriving at noon. We pass through Obouasi, the location of the Ashanti Goldfields one of the richest mines in the world. In the afternoon, take an excursion to the village of Bonwire, the locale where the famous Royal Kente Cloth is made. (B, D) Day 12 - KUMASI Visits to the craft villages of Pankrono (pottery), Ahwiaa (woodcarving), and Ntonso (adinkra) cloth. Visit the Kumasi Cultural Center and lunch at the Kentish Kitchen with Ghanaian cuisine. In the afternoon, an excursion to the Kumasi Central Market the largest in West Africa, followed by a visit to Manhiyia Palace for an audience with the Ashanti King or members of his Royal Court. (B, D) Day 13 - KUMASI - BUSUA BEACH RESORT Depart KUMASI for Busua Beach resort in Ghana's Western region for water sports and other activities. Take canoe ride to visit a Busua Island. Go on a walking tour to visit Fort Metal Cross at Dixcove. Over night at Busua Beach resort. (B, D) Day 14 - ACCRA Depart to Accra, arriving early afternoon in Aburi for lunch and a visit to the 100 year-old Aburi Botanical Gardens. Mid-afternoon: Visit the woodcarvers and drum makers of Aburi before continuing to Accra. (B, D) Day 15 - ACCRA City Tour of Accra to see the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial, Independence Arch, National Theater and the W.E.B. Dubois Pan African Center. Visit the craft markets where you may test your bargaining skills on the local vendors. (B, D) Day 16 - Early morning departure for onward flight on extended tour begins home.
