Szentendre is a lovely half-day trip if you stay in Budapest.      By car or bus half an hour drive from the city, the first town on the Daube Bend. It has been favoured by artists for it's natural beauties, lying right at the river. An old settlement going back to the 14th Ctr, luckily saved from damages of the 2-nd WW.      The old town has gorgeous baroque buildings, wide and narrow streets winding up to the Church Hill from where you have a marvellous view and where you can visit St.Andrew's Church from the 13th Ctr. The greatest Hungarian painters and sculptors gathered here in colonies at the turn of the 19th/20th Ctr. and in the sixties famous avantgarde painters worked here. The most reputed artists have permanent galleries, I usually say:' you could stay a week to see all galleries of Szentendre'. It's a town where you can get a glimpse at great artists work and contemporary art as well. Also purchase if you're interested in that.      There are some exhibitions which I certainly recommend not to skip, e.g. the world famous collection of Margit Kovacs , ceramic art or a curiosity , the marcipan exhibition of Mr. Szabo - where you can see important personalities of Hungarian history or scenes from well known fairytales made of marcipan.      Szentendre is also an excellent place for shopping - we are famous for beautiful embroideries , handicrafts. Here you can find plenty of good quality artwork. We can also visit a jewelry museum or have lunch at a nice restaurant.      These are all optional, an a private tour we are flexibel, everything will be organised according to your wishes.
