Jakarta is the capital and largest city of Indonesia. Jakarta has a tropical monsoon climate with distinct wet and dry seasons. The wet season in Jakarta is in effect for the majority of the year and it runs from October through May.
June through September account for the city's dry season. This city is a nice destination for tourists as it seems to have never-ending things to do. Jakarta hosts prestigious art and culture festivals, and exhibitions, such as the annual Jakarta International Film Festival, Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival, Jakarta Fashion Week, Jakarta Fashion & Food Festival and Jakarta Fair. The Jakarta Fair is held annually from mid-June to mid-July to celebrate the anniversary of the city and is mainly a trade fair but it also features entertainment, encompassing arts and music performances by local bands and musicians.
Jakarta possesses a tremendous number of museums including the Jakarta History Museum, Fine Art and Ceramic Museum, and National Museum of Indonesia, to name a few. Jakarta has a vast range of food available at hundreds of eating complexes located all over the city, from street side merchants and mobile vendors to the very high-priced, fancy restaurants. A remarkable point of interest to see is the National Monument set in the middle of Medan Merdeka Park.
