Ciao, I am a professional, authorized English and German speaking guide in Venice, Italy and in the lagoon (Murano, Burano and Torcello). I would be pleased to guide families with children / bigger parties / groups through Venice during 2010 !!! Please find below a brief outline of my studies : - degree in Foreign Languages and Literature at Ca' Foscari University in Venice with 110 cum laude/110; - High School for Tourism in Venice with 60/60. I started working as a professional guide in Spring 2000 after having passed a difficult examination.
Venice has a lot to offer !!!
St. Mark's Square and its thousands of pigeons is the most visited site. St. Mark's church is the clearest example of Venice's Eastern heritage. The horses on the balcony brings us back to the Middle Ages and the Forth Crusade. The Gothic Doge's palace, the former residence of the Doge and the seat of the government, leads us back to Renaissance and the Golden Age of Venetian painting with colourful masterpieces by Veronese. Three thousand ducats, well', this is what Shylock says to Bassanio in the Merchant of Venice in a street, possibly by the Rialto Bridge. Milion of visitors a year see these landmarks. But what about the silent hidden treasure of Venice ? The delightful cycle of paintings of one of the first travellers, the Archangel Raffael in the omonimous church ? The marbled coatings inside the Church of Mary of Miracles ? But Venice is not only art and architecture… What about the small wine bars with bowls hanging down from the ceiling that offer fish apetizers such as marinated sardines, toasted bread with shrimps and polenta ? What about the Lido beach with the massive boulders placed for protection, the fine sand overlooking the Adriatic sea, and the Art Nouveau Villas ? Some historians believe the name of the Most Serene Republic means veni etiam ' return, therefore come back one more time' ... Also we could visit a lot of other tours - full information you could find at my site.
I am looking forward guiding you and having fun with you !!! Best regards, Fiona Giusto
Philomena Holian, U.S.A., White Plains I visited Venice recently and Fiona was our tour guide. She did an excellent job explaining everything and her english was beautiful.
Peter Cohen, Canada, Montreal Fiona was our guide over four days in Venice in June 2009. We are a family of 5 with 3 children ages 15, 12, and 6. We could not have been happier. She was everything one could want in a guide. Warm, intelligent, friendly, flexible, great with the kids, personal. Her English is excellent. We would highly recommend her as a guide and will definitely use her again when we go back to Venice
Dr. Wolfgang Sepp, Deutschland, Kiefersfelden Fiona Giusto has led us on December 5, very knowledgeable and detailed. They speak excellent German, her vocabulary is certainly larger than the number of German tourists. We can only recommend Fiona!
Terry Howe, USA, Boston The best in Venice, great guide, polite, professional.
