Discover Vicenza

  Vicenza lies in the green Venetian lowlands, surrounded by the Berici Hills, at the confluence of the River Restrone and Ricer Bacchiglione. The town of Vicenza is known all over the world as "the town of Palladio". It is famous for its art, refined architecture, harmony of forms and proportions. Apart from the city's architecture and amazing structures, the countryside of Vicenza is simply spectacular.   This program is an introduction to the history of Vicenza and how it developed from an Roman "Municipium" in 49 B.C. Occupation by the invasions of the middle ages, to being part of the Serene Republic of Venice in the 1400's. As we walk through the historical city you get an idea of tourism 20 years ago, and the feeling that has drawn many individuals to seek the "Dolce Vita" could caputure you as well.
