Taormina is a small seaside town on the eastern shore of the island of Sicily. It has been a popular vacation destination for tourists since the 1800s, famous for its beautiful beaches on the warm Ionian Sea.

Taormina is a very old city, surrounded by rocky hills where an ancient Saracen castle overlooks the town. Other surprisingly intact testaments of history still stand here as well, such as the Teatro Greco (Greek Theater) which is still used for opera and theater performances, as well as for musical concerts. Some notable landmarks include the Duomo Cathedral, the Duomo Santa Catarina, the 10th century Palazzo Corvaja, the Baroque Fountain and the Church of San Domenico.

In addition to its inherent natural beauty, Taormina is home to gorgeous landscaped gardens, the Giardino Pubblico. Isola Bella is one of its most beautiful beaches, and Lido Copacabana and Spiaggia di Mazzeo are also popular beaches.
