Estern Coast of Libya Eight Days Day one: - Arrival in Tripoli, meet assistance, transfer to hotel, dinner at Restaurant. Day two: - Full day at Tripoli old town-National museum-Arch of Marcus, Spanish fortress dinner at Rest. Forty-five buildings in the city, many dating from the 14th century, have been registered as historical sites. Twelve mosques from Mamluke and Ottoman times have survived along with an equal number of “madrassas” or theological schools. Secular buildings include the “hammam” or the bathing-house, which followed the classical pattern of Roman-Byzantine baths, and the “khan” or caravansary. The souks, together with the “khans”, form an agglomeration of various trades where tailors, jewelers, perfumers, tanners and soap-makers work in surroundings that have changed very little over the last 500 years.
Day three: - Half day at Sabratha (Roman city) afternoon transfer to Tip Airport, fly to Benghazi. Libya's second city Benghazi is famed in military history as a supply base during World War II. It was also the headquarters of the Italian forces during their occupation of Libya from 1911 onwards, and this is reflected in much of the Italian style architecture. In the city centre is the monument to Omar al-Mukhtar, the great Libyan resistance leader who fought against the Italian occupation. There is also an extensive and interesting market, Souq al-Jareed.
Day four: - Drive east to Tolmaytha visit the Cistern, the colonnaded palace & museum. drive to Jabal Akther to visit the delightful Gasr Libya museum, Spend two nights in Beyda city. Day five: - Visit the Greek ruins at Cyrene & its port. Day six: - Half day visiting the Byzantine Churches in Lathron & Ras Hilal .Return to Banghazi, Fly to Tripoli. Day seven: - Full day at the Marble city of Leptis Magna. Day eight: - Transfer to Airport for your departure. |
