WALKING TOUR Fort San Diego is one of the historical highlights of Acapulco. Continue towards the center of old Villa de Acapulco, the traditional market place and center of a thriving village of 12,000 souls in the early 1600s. The Zocalo, or town square, is a peaceful area, shaded by giant rubber and mango trees and is lined with ice cream stands and sidewalk cafes. Here, you will visit the cathedral before continuing to the house fabled to have belonged to Benito Juarez; the creater of the Mexican Consititution of 1857 and one of the most important presidents. A short walk will return you to the Zocalo where you browse the silver, tequila and assorted handicraft and souvenir shops or return to the ship with your guide.
