They say that this open air museum has everything like it was before...except the tidal movement.... If you want to experience (in real life) how our (great) greatmothers and fathers lived before the South Sea was closed by the barrier dam. It is like stepping back in the 19th century/early 20th century.

Their traditions,the interiors of their houses, the way of cleaning and how they earned some extra money, how the kids slept in the attic and father covered the roof when it was too cold, how families invented to collect sweet and salt water separately,...this 'village' museum does give you an insight. The ladies and man are dressed in authentical costumes and show you handcrafts like fishing, spinning, how to operate a windmill .....

This tour could be part of a North Holland tour in combination with Edam (rich and well preserved former South Sea town), Zaanse Schans (open air museum with differnt types of windmills), Volendam or Marken (a former island in the South Sea where houses are built on piles and terps).
