Experience the famous Rembrandt paintings in Amsterdam, Holland in a new light! Imagine being the privileged guest of honour at the home of art historian Kees Kaldenbach. Lectures (in Dutch, English or German + translations into Japanese) are given in plain, accessible language.
There is too much to see in Amsterdam. For those who stay one day, I suggest a general Amsterdam tour with an historical walk in the most famous suburbs: Jordaan, the Dam, the Pipe, Canal tour, beguinage, Vondel park. It is relax to make the combination with with a boat trip, a visit to the Anne Frank museum, Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum or Hermitage.

When you visit Holland you do not have to only see the city of Amsterdam; a lot of the best experiences are found in towns like Alkmaar. Located 30 Km to the north of Amsterdam you will find the quiet and dreamy little town that is Alkmaar. A private tour on a personal vehicle can take you and up to 3 other people there but accommodations can be made for larger groups for an additional fee.
The History of Alkmaar is marked throughout time being the first Dutch city to actually have a successful fight against the troops from Spain. Because of that win back in the 16th century you will hear and read the claim that victory began in Alkmaar, something that the Dutch take great pride in.
However the one thing that the locals are proud of and the main reason for the fame of this small town are the advances in engineering, technology that have taken place here. Not too far from the town the construction of the very first polder took place as well as other engineering works and windmills. You will get all that information during your tour. The largest painting from Saenredam is located right in town at the History and Art museum; but that in itself is not the only reason to take some time to visit the museum as other famous artists’ works can be admired here as well.
On your visit to the museum you will be able to also see the Great Church of Saint Lawrence which is massive and mediaeval. That is just a part of the history that you will learn about during the trip.
The city center’s beauty can be appreciated when you realize that its growth has been organic. The Canals, monuments and houses have been preserved wonderfully and the visitors enjoy them. Visit on a Friday morning on a summer day for the very delectable Cheese Market Square. You will also learn about the windmills and their uses as water pumps or for milling grain. You will leave happy and with a lot of knowledge of one of the most picturesque small towns in Holland.
