Experience the famous Rembrandt paintings in Amsterdam, Holland in a new light! Imagine being the privileged guest of honour at the home of art historian Kees Kaldenbach. Lectures (in Dutch, English or German + translations into Japanese) are given in plain, accessible language.

There is too much to see in Amsterdam. For those who stay one day, I suggest a general Amsterdam tour with an historical walk in the most famous suburbs: Jordaan, the Dam, the Pipe, Canal tour, beguinage, Vondel park. It is relax to make the combination with with a boat trip, a visit to the Anne Frank museum, Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum or Hermitage.

The Hague is the third largest city to see in the Netherlands, after Amsterdam and Rotterdam. I am amazed to discover that half of the city is inhabited by the nobilities and that the government stays there even though Amsterdam is the actual capital of Netherlands.
The embassy row area found here is also fascinating for me with all the great stories about the misunderstandings and egos of the ambassadors and other politicians of Netherlands. Parliament houses and courts are also located in this row. The town hall is a modern sparkling building designed by Richard Maier and stands inside the atrium. The white color of the whole building and the modern design simply took my breath away.
While discovering the history of the people, I also discovered the tradition and culture of the city dwellers. The medieval close-knitted streets in the center of the city seem to be a form of art in itself. Mauritshuis Museum is a real must-see in The Hague. The 17th century mansion is a great display by itself. It is here that I was able to see the Royal collection of paintings. The museum houses three Vermeer paintings and artworks of great artists like Rembrandt and his contemporaries at the time.
It also serves as a great treasure house as shiny jewel boxes are displayed here. We can find out even more about the history of The Hague through the HaagasHistorisch Museum which presents an entertaining history of the city from the medieval times to the present. The Hague also boasts the displays of Gemeente Museum. Here we can marvel at Mondrian paintings and other forms of art such as pottery, design, musical instruments, and clothing.
After the buildings and museums of this city, a stroll to the city’s coffee shops located at its narrow winding streets is a good prelude before plunging in the nearby sandy beaches for an outing.
