Pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela

  Mountainbike expedition, departing from Oporto, riding through trails along vineyards, small villages in the rural countryside on the footsteps of the pilgrim's route to Santiago de Compostela in Spanish Galicia..

  The Santiago route is one of the oldest pilgrim trails in Europe, only compared to the medieval pilgrimages to the Holy land but without the perils of those journeys. The Portuguese trail leaves from Oporto and crosses towns with medieval markets, dramatic coastlines, walled villages and rural countryside spotted with "green wine" vineyards before reaching the destination: the mythical town of Santiago, the Iberian name of St. James.

  This seven day tour comprises four days pedaling on this pilgrims route plus one sightseeing day in Oporto and Santiago and one reserved for the shuttle back to Oporto or Lisbon.
We will use small cottages or pilgrim shelters on this trip and you will have the opportunity to see the unspoilt Northern Portugal and Spain, taste regional food, experience centuries old traditions and history.
