Information about Lisbon

The capital and largest city in Portugal is Lisbon. Located at the mouth of the Tagus River, it’s the westernmost capital of a mainland European country. Lisbon is recognized as a ‘global city’ because of its importance in commerce, finance, arts, trade, tourism, education and entertainment. Lisbon is the political center of the country and serves as residence for the Head of State. Lisbon is the oldest city in Western Europe and is one of the oldest cities in the world. Two sites in Lisbon are dedicated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites; Belem Tower and Jeronimos Monastery. 

If you take a walk around the city you will be able to enjoy the rich array of architecture the city has to offer; Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque, Modern, Manueline and Postmodern.
