  Welcome to Romania!
My name is Daniel Gheorghita and I'll do everything to be not just a good guide and a good driver but also a friend of you.
This is the way I greet my tourists because what I'm doing is not a job for me, it's a pleasure to show them my country's beauties, secrets and traditions.
I was born in 1977 and I'm living in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. I work as a guide since 2003 and before that I worked as travel agent.
I'm a very flexible person; during the trip you'll be able to change small parts of the program by adding something extra or by cutting something else, if the program is to much for you. Also, you can customize your own program from the beginning.
Also, during your trip, I'll help you each time you need me, I'll tell you about food, I'll barg for you with the merchants a.s.o.
My tours offer you the chance to admire Romania, to find its hidden secrets, to visit beautiful places where you won't see other tourist and to have a direct contact with the locals. All you have to do is to contact me

Sincerely yours,
Daniel.

Attention all travelers. Here is a letter we wrote to Daniel boss at the time after returning from a tour of Romania with Daniel in April 2006.
I want to tell you that we found Romania to be a beautiful country with a great deal of beautiful diversity and nice people. Unfortunately, on the down side, I feel that we are obligated to let you know that as positive as the experience was visiting the country, our experience with Daniel was extremely negative and I feel that you should understand whom you have working for you and how he treats "clients" as Daniel like to refer to us.
The following are some issues that we feel you should be made aware of:
In general, Daniel always seemed sad and depressed. He never smiled, was always in a bad mood, and was constantly saying negative things about you, Romania, and Romanians in general. A travel guide should always represent his country in a positive manner and he certainly did not do that.
Throughout the entire tour, Daniel kept criticizing your choice of hotels, restaurants, roads, and itinerary, in general, although we found the hotels, restaurants, and itinerary to be very good. A good guide should never speak to the client badly about his employer or the company that he represents. Additionally, every time he criticized, he told us not to tell you.
1. When we first arrived at the airport in Bucharest, my husband greeted him and Romanian (buna ziua) and Daniel's response was "you are late." That was the extent of the initial greeting. My husband then asked Daniel how your father was doing and Daniel's response was "Andrei and I are business associates. It is not my concern how his father is doing." That immediately gave us the impression that he is an insensitive person.
2. Throughout the entire tour, Daniel behaved much more like a driver than a guide. He offered little explanation of the sites that we visited and the only time that he did speak extensively, he was reading from notes. My husband and I have been on many tours around the world and this is the first time that we have experienced a guide who didn't seem to know anything about the places where he was guiding us. I feel that we paid a great deal of money to be driven around Romania.
3. He constantly made anti-Jewish remarks to us. We believe that he thought that he was being funny, however, the things that he said to us that were blatantly anti-Jewish were extremely offensive. At one point, he said to us that our son could not possibly be Jewish because he can't keep any money in his pocket. This kind of ignorance is very dangerous and really alarming to us. At that point, I was so offended that I told him that what he had said was extremely prejudiced and highly offensive. He gave a weak apology and explained that we were the first Jews who he had ever guided. Even if that were true, I think that it would have been much more intelligent to keep his mouth closed. The next day he was back to making remarks.
4. At every meal that we had with him in a restaurant, he ordered for himself even before we had a chance to look at the menu. Of course, in my case, it took even longer because a lot of things needed to be translated for me from Romanian to English. We felt that Daniel was extremely rude to not wait for us. We would never treat anyone like that (client or otherwise). I am certain that you wouldn't either. That is just common courtesy.
5. With regard to the hotel with the dog. Daniel called you to tell you that we had seen the dog shit (pardon the expression) and refused to stay in the hotel. That is not the truth. He put us into the middle of his lie. He actually took a photo of the dog shit and showed us the photo. Then he told us not to tell you that he had showed us the photo. He told us to tell you that we had seen it ourselves. While I do agree that having a dog walking around freely may not be the most sanitary situation when it comes to the restaurant, we never actually saw anything. We were on the first floor and he was on the second floor. He was the one who experienced the dog shit and the one who didn't want to stay in the hotel.
6. In the morning of our last day in Romania, Daniel came to pick us up early so that we could get a pastry for my husband. He brought his wife with him because he was giving her a ride so that she could catch the bus for work. The two of them were walking so far ahead of us, it was as though we weren't even there. On that day, my husband wanted to have a particular Romanian pastry (savarina) so Daniel took us to some place where he thought the savarinas were good. When we got there, the shop was closed for vacation. A phone call from Daniel to the shop would have eliminated our going all the way there for no reason. He didn't attempt to try any other places and didn't say anything. He just took us to the airport. We were at the airport at 9:30 am for a 1 pm flight when we could have been using some of that time to see additional sites in Bucharest.
In closing, I want to say that in spite of our experience with Daniel, we found Romania to be beautiful and the people to be very nice. We feel that the itinerary that you made up was very well organized and comprehensive. We will continue to recommend your services to our friends who would like to visit Romania, however, we cannot recommend Daniel as a guide.
