I'm a Romanian journalist and guide, living and working in Northern Transylvania (Dracula's home), in Maramures region. I used to work as guide since a couple of years. I studied at University to become an historian, but I completely changed my plans. I travelled a lot, from America till Europe (England, Germany, Italy, Eastern Europe). My hobbies are: photography, archaeology, environmental studies. I am a calm and funny person. I speak English, Romanian and little bit French and German.
Transylvania s a historical region in the center of Romania. As a political entity, Transylvania became a part of the Kingdom of Hungary in the 11th century. It then successively became an autonomous principality under Ottoman suzerainty in 1541, a part of the Habsburg Monarchy in 1711 (Austria-Hungary after 1867), and a part the Kingdom of Romania after World War I.
Romania has the sublime castles, medieval towns, great hiking and wildlife, and cheap skiing of much of the 'undiscovered' former Eastern Bloc. You'll be floored at how different it is, but you'll almost certainly see signs that it's chasing the dreams of the rest of the West.
Horse-drawn carts jostle for space against fast cars whose drivers are talking money on mobile phones; farm workers watch American movies in their medieval farmhouses. Romania is clawing itself forward, slowly and surely sloughing off the remnants of the Ceausescu era. Romanian tourism focuses on the country's natural landscapes and its history, from medieval and Saxon villages with fortified churches in Transylvania to hot Black Sea shores and the heights of the Carpathian Mountains.
Annually, more than 7 million tourists from all over the world, most of them from Western Europe and United States, spend their holiday in Romania. Many Romania's touristic sites are today part of World Heritage List.
Rogons, Venezuela, Maracaibo An excursion in Transylvania was the very bright impression, the impressions that I will remember forever. Our guide Phil showed us a lot of interesting corners, told us a lot of mysterious and breathtaking stories about this wonderful corner of the earth. An excursion was very interesting and exciting.
