Information about Bucharest
The capital and largest city of Romania is settled on the banks of the Dambovita River and has an urban area population of over 3 million. The transitional climate of Bucharest features windy winters with temperatures dropping well below freezing, and summers seeing highs of 104°F. In addition to the Dambovita, there are also several lakes and rivers throughout the city, including a small artificial lake in the city center surrounded by beautiful gardens, Lake Cismigiu.
Because of its elegant architecture and sophisticated culture, Bucharest has earned the nickname, “Little Paris.” A mix of medieval, neo-classical, art nouveau, utilitarian Communist -era and contemporary buildings offer many important historical landmarks. Some of these are the Cotroceni Palace, Cretulescu Palace, the Telephone Palace, the headquarters of the National Bank of Romania, Manoc’s Inn and the ruins of the Old Court of the Middle Ages. The City Gate Towers are also a notable landmark of Bucharest.

Latest Tourist Opinion about Travel to Romania:
We could not have had a better tour! Andrei planned a wonderful two day tour that was the highlight of our 12 day cruise through the Black Sea. We stayed busy the entire time, had the opportunity to try traditional Romanian food, and saw spectacular sights from the Peles Castle to the Palace of Parliament and the Village Museum as well as the streets of Bucharest. We feel planning private tours offer a much better experience and value than taking tours arranged by the cruise lines which often become the equivalent of herding cats trying to satisfy 50 people on a bus. We see more in less time ...
