From Nevsky Prospect you can get a splendid view of the Cathedral of RNevsky Prospect is the most important thoroughfare and the main street of our city. It is nearly 4,5 km (3miles) long and its width is from 25m up to 60 m in some places. Cutting through the most historical part of the city, it runs from the Admiralty to the Moscow Railway Station and then, after a slight turn, to the Alexander Nevsky Monastery. Nevsky Prospect is one of the oldest streets in Saint-Petersburg, its construction was started in the early 18 th century. By the middle of the 18th century this avenue was built up with cathedrals, mansions, market rows. From the beginning of the 19th century hotels, large shops, restaurant, theaters, libraries tenement houses and banks began to appear in the street. So the development of the prospect lasted for over 2 centuries. The architectural styles are blended here. You can see building designed in baroque style, classical and Art Novou style, which were in fashion in different time. Almost every building on Nevsky Prospect is worth noting due to it architectural or historical value.
