  St-Petersburg is not like any other city in the world: with a rich past, and a great future it was miraculously preserved through fire and revolution, the siege, and the modernizer's drill. The city is laced with rivers and canals, its boulevards and squares are flanked by magnificent baroque palaces, classical facades, and impressive edifices. The elegant architectural ensembles dominate the city's layout. It was in this city that the world famous Russian writers, composers, and scientists created their works of genius.   St.-Petersburg is an exciting city, which has to offer more than simply the Hermitage Museum and the Kirov Ballet of the Mariinsky Theatre. Officially proclaimed the "Cultural Capital of Russia" St.-Petersburg is a place, where you need weeks just to see all its major landmarks.
   St.-Petersburg,  is a relatively new city, founded in 1703. When it was nine years old it became the capital of Russia and retained this status till 1918. Even now it is called the "Northern Capital" of Russia. Over almost 300 years of its history St.-Petersburg accumulated all the grandeur of the Russian Imperial Court and became one of the largest centers of culture, science and industry. Created by the Russian Tsar Peter the Great as a sea port on the Baltic it was essentially "a window to the West" for Russia, combining the best of the West and the East.    The city is located in the delta of the Neva River on numerous islands.    During our City Tour we will see the most beautiful places, such as palaces, mansions, squares and churches.
