Malaga is one of the most populous cities in Andalusia. You may also be acquainted with this name due to the internationally known Malaga football club. It is worth noting that Malaga is one of the oldest cities in the whole world, which makes it especially interesting for those who are looking for adventures and are eager to learn something new about the Spanish history and culture. The history of Malaga starts approximately three millennia ago. Isn’t that impressive?
You will definitely enjoy this private tour in Spain. You should be aware of the fact that there were lots of people and ethnicities which strongly influenced the formation and the development of the city. Phoenicians were the founders of Malaga, which used to be called “Malaka” approximately in 770 BC. In the 2nd century it was ruled by the Roman Republic and then the Roman Empire. The next page of the city’s history was dedicated to the Moorish invasion in the 8th century. The dominance of the Muslims lasted up till the 15th century and the so-called Reconquista. There are numerous archeological monuments of each of these periods. These historical monuments make Malaga one of the most visited cities in Spain. As your private guide in Malaga I will tell you all the most interesting stories linked to the places we visit.
During the tour we will take a look at the ancient 16th century cathedral, which used to serve as a mosque in the times of the Moorish invasion. Our next destination will be the incomparable Gibralfaro Castle and the Alcazaba Fortress. By the way, Malaga is the birth place of the legendary Spanish artist – Pablo Picasso. The citizens of Malaga are very proud of the Picasso’s legacy, and there is a wonderful museum dedicated to the artist. You will find there a huge collection of 150 works of Picasso.
As your private guide in Spain I would also recommend you to visit the gardens of Malaga. Due to its subtropical- Mediterranean climate there is a great variety of plants and flowers that grow in the city.
