Information about Alicante

Located in southeastern Spain is a city, a port and the capital province called Alicante. It’s a historical Mediterranean port city on the Mediterranean Sea along famous Costa Blanca. The city exports fruit, cereals, oil, wine and maintains metallurgical and chemical industries, fishing and waterfront tourism. A favorable year-round climate and miles of sandy beaches make Alicante a key tourist destination. Along the streets of this multicultural city there are palm trees, historical buildings, modern art, open-air markets, shopping centers and plenty of opportunities for dining al fresco.

Tourist attractions are plentiful and include; The Castle of Santa Barbara, a large medieval fortress built by Muslims. The Archaeological Museum of Alicante, San Juan Beach, Gravina Museum of Fine Arts and  the Asegurada Museum of Modern Art. Take a boat trip to Tabarca Island, a step back in time with no modern features such as stores or cars. Just protected wilderness and a tiny town with a beautiful church. Postiguet Beach is a tourist hot-spot by day and night. The Mercado Central de Alicante is the city’s main open-air market where you can purchase clothes, flags, beads, meat, seafood, cheeses, fruits, vegetables and flowers.
