| Norman Gotwetter: To Whom It May Concern: I'm interested in a private tour of Geneva and I have several questions. First, I would be flying in just for the day from Amsterdam. Do you pick up and drop off at the airport? If so, what airport and what would be the minimum amount of time that would need to be allowed in order to make the tour worthwhile? What hours do you operate? What is the charge for such a tour? Is payment made prior to or on the day of the tour? What types of payment are acceptable? What is your policy on refunds should something out of my control occur, such as a delayed flight? I would be by myself. What services does the tour include and what does it exclude? I'm sure I'll have more questions, but that's it for now. I look forward to your response! Sincerely, Norman Gotwetter | |

| Trudy Allen: Hello, I am a travel agent who has 2 couples who would like to do a private post-cruise tour. She liked the one HOlland America set up (3 nights but 4 or 5 nights are possible) but doesn't want to go in a large bus. I can set up hotels (must be very upscale) or you can. they arrive in Rotterdam on the "Rotterdam" on 30 June next year. This tour was set up for pre-cruise, so it would be different. I think they would want to do Amsterdam and sights; the the Hague, Delft, Goudean Schoohoven and Kinderdijk and Delftshaven. Something on the order of 3-5 nights and include the tours. Please suggest good hotels that would be convenient. Thank you! | |

Guide in Amsterdam - Kees Hi Trudy Allen,
For a client who wants an upmarket post-cruise tour of about 4 days the best choice is a tour guide who has a private car or minibus.
When arriving in Rotterdam, the many windmills of Kinderdijk a bit to the south are a good option as a start and then landing at a centrally located hotel.
Then going north again The Hague the Des Indes Hotel is top of the bill and there are various other a bit less expensive. I can certainly help with that. In Amsterdam the Dylan Hotel, or the Amstel Hotel or a smaller boutique hotel would be perfect.
I feel that these specific guests deserve a made-to measure tour. So after exchanging personal emails and after phone contacts and checking their specific fields of interest a fitting itinerary can be drawn up. So that they will become completely happy.
Greetings,
Drs Kees Kaldenbach, Amsterdam, art historian. >
Guide in Amsterdam - Lut Hi Trudy,
I give you hereby a list with, to my opinion, the most upscale (and also characteristic) hotels in the West of the courntry:
1 Amsterdam:
- Amstel Hotel
- Pullitzer hotel (centre, + € 250/nacht)
- hotel de l’Europe (ongeveer € 300/nacht)
- Grand Hotel Amrad(Hendrik Kade,€ 180/nacht)
What to do in Amsterdam?
- walking tour in the canal district,Red Light District and the popular 'Jordaan'.
- canal boat tour
- Anne Frank museum
- Stedelijk museum andVan Gogh museum
- with nice weather: Vondelpark
- very popular: Albert Cuyp market
2 The Hague/Scheveningen
- Hotel Des Indes hotel(€ 150/night)
- Kurhaus
Suggestions for a day out:
- Mauritshuis (collection 15-16-17th
century paintings)
- Binnenhof, political centre
- Community museum (modern art)
- The Hague is great for shopping!
Of course, prices are approximate. All the cities and attractins are a 20 minutes to 1 hour drive from The Hague. My advice would be to stay in The Hague and Amsterdam for the nights.
I hope this will help you further for the moment. If you have some questions, let me know.

We are based in Rio de Janeiro, a city that if you have the chance it`s definitely worth a visit. I don`t have anyone that I could recommend in Brasilia, eventhough I know the city quite well. It is a very young city, only 50 years old, the visit should be focused on its architecture as it is the largest human planned city in the world. Let us know if you need any more information, ok? Thanks. Leticia >

Guide in Zurich - Carmen Hello Sasha, Thank you for your contact and your interest in Zurich.
If you want to visit Zurich on foot you should not stroll through the old town with the Grossmünster and Fraumüster cathedrals where you find the famous Chagall windows.
Some roman excevations can also be found in the old town such as the biggest clock of Switzerland. Of great interest is also the Niederdorf and the best views of Zurich are from the University area which is accessible from the old town by a funicular.
Nearby destinations of interest which you reach within 1 hr are the city Lucerne, the Rhine falls, the surrounds of Lake Zurich (boat cruise on lake Zurich) and the small town Zug, to mention just some of the destinations.
One of our experienced drivers/guides would be happy to take you around and if you decide for a full day excursion he can even take you into the Alpine scenery of the Alps.
I hope this information is helpful and gladly remain at your further assistance. I would be happy to welcome you in Switzerland.

1. Singapore Botanic Garden (Orchid Garden is a MUST!)
2. The Southern Ridges (Mt Faber & Hort Park)
3. MacRitchie Reservoir Park (Tree Top Walk)
Singapore Night Safari, is the world’s first wildlife night park! You can sign up a guided tour with any tour operator or tour desk located at your hotel. Alternatively, you could go there by taxi and then explore it by yourself at your own pace!

| Lorella: Hi, I am very eager to discover the richness of St. Petersburg’s culture and architectural splendour. Can you please suggest to me some magnificent spots to visit? As I also love shopping, were do you suggest me to go to shop in this city? Regards, Lorella | |
Guide in St. Petersburg - Andrey Most popular spots to appreciate the city - its main squares, Palace (marked with 155-ft-high Alexander column), St.Isaac's (with the respective cathedral and the equestrian monument to Nicholas I) and Senate (with the Bronze Horseman overlooking the Neva banks from the top of its granite pedestal), Arts' and Ostrovsky; view of Smolny cathedral, spit of Vasilievsky island (magnificent view of the Hermitage museum complex in the afternoon), spires of Peter and Paul cathedral and the Admiralty; non-typical for the western-looking city but very popular Russian-style Church on the Spilt Blood... Still too many items to enumerate...
More complicated is to advise about shopping. In Nevsky prospect you can find several big shopping galleries combining historical outlook with modern standards inside; Gostiniy Dvor (Merchante' Yard), Passage - with some more nearby, all in Nevsky prospect.
Another, completely new malls - near Sennaya square, traditional area for local shopping (Pik and Sennaya).
> | |
Guide in St. Petersburg - Eugenia Dear Lorella,
Here is the list of places not to be missed in St.Petersburg:
1. Neva River
2. Spit of Basil's Island
3. Smaller rivers and canals (take a canal cruise)
4. Palace square
5. St.Isaak's square
6. Nevsky prospekt
7. Smolny cathedral
Interior visits:
1. Hermitage museum (including the Winter Palace)
2. The State Russian museum
3. St.Isaak's cathedral
4. Savior-on-the-Spilled Blood churh
5. Peter-and-Paul Fortress
6. Yusupov palace
7. Menshikov palace
Suburbs:
1. Tsarskoje Selo - Catherine's palace
2. Pavlovsk - Paul's palace
3. Peterhof - Gardens and any of 20 museums there
This is a short list of 'must-sees' which can be accomplished with the other sites upon your interest.
There is a shopping quarter between Grand Hotel Europe and Sadovaya street for fashion and Arts Square for souvenirs.
Have a pleasant journey!
> | |
Guide in St. Petersburg - Oxana Dear Lorella, just to add to said above if you are interested in history - you can start from the first house that had appeared in Saint-Petersburg - from Log Cabin of Peter the Great (by the way nearby is the famous cruise Aurora that gave the blank shot and it was start for October Revolution of 1917) and then follow the whole list written by my colleagues. As for architectural masterpieces I wouldn't miss splendid Smolny Cathedral by Rastrelli in barocco style, famous Mariinsky theatre (former Kirov Opera and Ballet House) and Nicolas Epiphany Cathedral nearby. Shopping you can do besides Nevsky prospect(Nevsky is on the first place, nevertheless) in a newly opened "Gallery" on Ligovsky Prospekt near to Moscow railway station with a lot of boutiques inside. Enjoy your staying in our beautiful city! >

Guide in Varna - Victoria Hi, Doreen,
Bulgaria is indeed a rich destination when regarding culture and heritage. If you are interested in Thracian history there is a lot to see in the Rhodope Mountains and the Rose Valley, Greek and Hellenistic Antiquity you can trace in Varna (here is also the oldest golden treasure in the world on display), Nessebar and Sozopol by the Black Sea coast, Roman history around the town of Plovdiv, Byzantine culture and Second Bulgarian Kingdom in the town of Veliko Tarnovo and many more sites. In our capital Sofia you could see a mixture of almost everything mentioned, as well as modern history.
Great time to see Bulgaria is in late spring - not too hot or cold, especially for the famous Rose Festival, which takes place in the town of Kazanlak every first weekend of June.
Whatever you choose, I hope you will be delighted with our country.
Best regards, Victoria Balezdrova >
Guide in Sofia - Pavlina Dear Doreen,
As my colleague Victoria has written we have a lot to offer in terms of culture, history and religion. Many tourists coming to Bulgaria do not expect much, but at the end the leave full of nice impressions from the country. Visiting Bulgaria you will learn about the Thracians, about the Roman period, the medieval times, you will visit extremely beautiful churches, Thracian tombs, the Black sea coast (depending on your itinerary) and of course you will meet the local Bulgarians and will see how we live, our customs and traditions. Besides the nature in the spring, the summer and the autumn is beautiful, but indeed the best time to travel to Bulgaria is late May early June.
Should you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am based in Sofia and will be happy to propose you a program that will include the most interesting and valuable sites.
Kindest Regards,

| Sarah: Hello, Discovering the beauty of the Black Sea Coast is very appealing to me. Can you suggest me what scenic beauty can be seen and if there are resorts in this area? Apart from the Black Sea Coast, which other locations do you advice me to visit? How is the climate in Spring and Summer in Romania? Sincerely, Sandra | |
Guide in Bucharest - Istvan Dear Sandra,
If you want to experience a pleasant holiday at the Black Sea Coast(in a scenic beauty as you said) I suggest you to go to Sfantu Gheorghe, Gura Portitei or to Sulina. Those are small and remote villages on the sea coast, not crowded at all, there are more picturesque guest houses and campings instead resorts. From here you can go to day trips in the Danube Delta for birdwatching, fishing or just a simple boat trip in the Delta.
If you want to go to the modern resorts from the Black Sea Coast, we have plenty of them in Mamaia, Neptun, Costinesti, but here is relatively crowded and too expensive comparing with Bulgaria, Croatia or Turkey.
I suggest you to stay in Sfantu Gheorghe or Gura Portitei 4 days, in Bucharest 2 days, and from Bucharest to have a round trip in Transylvania, to Peles Castle, Bran Castle, Brasov, Sighisoara and Sibiu. The best climate for my suggestion is July-August, or the first week in September. It could be warm, or hot in July-August, till 35-36 degrees Celsius, but with the climate change from the last 15 years it could be mild and perfect weather too(between 28-33 degrees Celsius). >
Guide in Varna - Victoria Hi, Sarah,
What I am about to offer you is practised often by people, willing to take advantage of the best to be seen in Romania and Bulgaria: After explorin the Romanian coastal line, the town of Varna in Bulgaria would be just 160 km away from Constanta. In Varna there is a lot to do and to explore - amazing resort by the sea, named Golden Sands, Greek, Roman (the fourth largest Roman Thermae in Europe)and Byzantine remainings, the oldest golden treasure in the world on display in the local museum, rural sites and much more...Let alone the fact that the world famous roseoil, used in many perfumes, is produced exactly in Bulgaria.
Just take a peep in some Bulgarian sites and you will be fascinated!
Best regards, Victoria Balezdrova >
Guide in Bucharest - Daniel Dear Sandra,

The wether for spring and summer there are not so long as in Greece...but very good, not so hot.

If you want also you can choose to go in Danube Delta for a few days trip.Trips you can choose also to go in Bulgaria,it is very near, around 60 km. from Constanta.

Guide in Bruges - Georges Hello Rachel, from a panoramic point of view, you should of course visit the ATOMIUM, but the Grand Place, with its beautiful Baroque guild houses is a must. If you're interested in art, the Museum of Fine Arts is the place to be, not far from the Grand Place. The weather in summer in Brussels can be pleasant. If you're lucky and it doesn't rain, average high temperatures are 23°C (74°F). Keeping an umbrella close bye is always handy. A Typical Belgian dish is “Mussels with fries”, if you like seafood. On the other hand if you prefer meat, one of the best traditional dishes is “Flemish Stew” prepared with Belgian Beer. And to end your culinary discoveries you must taste the “Chocolate mousse”. That will really make your day! Enjoy your stay! Georges >

Guide in Curepipe - Gabriel Hello Catherine,
I can tell that Mauritius is full of natural beauty such as the botanical garden, the old capital of Port Louis which is a mixture of the old colonial era and the new developed world, extinct volcanoes of Trou aux Cerfs, the Gorge of Black River, different beautiful waterfalls, natural lakes such Grand Bassin, the splendid valley of 23-coloured earth, crocodile park with a tortoise corner and different museums in it, Blue Penny Museum where you can see rare stamps, naval museum and museums about our tea and sugar industries. there are also natural reserves where you can have different activities, such as trekking, zip lines, safari and quad biking. Some strikingly beautiful small islands around the main island of Mauritius can also be visited, such as Ile aux deux Cocos and Ile aux Aigrettes.
Chamarel is a unique place which is considered as of the enigmas of nature. The soil exibits 7 colours which do not mix with one another. There you can also enjoy the fantastic view of the highest waterfall in Mauritius and see the fields of tropical fruits such as pineapples, mango, papaya, bananas, maracujas and also coffee. Not far from Chamarel, you can have the opportunity to visit the rum factory which has also a museum and where you taste the different types of rums.
Mauritius is a rich mixture of cultures and therefore you can have different dishes ranging from creole, indian, chinese and european cuisines. A wide variety of fresh fish and tropical fruits and vegetables are also available. The most popular and tasty dishes are heart palm salad, marlin, grilled fish with prawns and lobsters and a variety of sea food and meat dishes with different kinds of sauces. >

What type of transport system is there from Portugal to Madeira Islands to be able to explore their beauty? Regards, Olivia
Guide in Lisbon - Carla Dear Olivia,
Portugal is a small country but with a very diversified landscape. Just 30 minutes driving west from Lisbon there is the natural protected area of Sintra/Cascais where you can admire a lush vegetation, nature and history expressed in the manors and palaces. Then, driving south of Lisbon, the natural park of Arrábida that still preserves the original mediterranean vegetation. Further south, in Alentejo, a vast ondulating plain, filled with cork trees and its wildlife, where also some of the most reputed winesgrapes grows.
In the north, east from Porto, you find the slopes of Douro valley, terraces cultivated by men, with unique features that allow Port wine to develop. But there is more: Bussaco mountain, Serra da Estrela (highest mountain), the green Minho region. Portugal owns 800 kilometers of coastal land, alternating sandy bays with high cliffs.
Regarding wine tasting I highlight: Alentejo and Douro areas. There is a wide offer of wine estates where you can stay overnight, experience how wine is made or tasting it. TAP is the national flight company that offers daily flights to Funchal,in Madeira. I hope to have been usefull. >
Guide in Lisbon - Joao Good afternoon Olivia,
Both the Douro valley (where Port wine is made) and the Alentejo (farmland and wine region as well boast two of the most splendid landscapes in continental Portugal. There are over 1500 wine makers along the Douro valley and many are tourism oriented. In some it is even possible to crush the grapes with the locals.
Alentejo (southern plains between the Tagus river and the Algarve) has recently been advertised by NY Times as an unveiled Tuscany, like Tuscany used to be before becoming touristy. Medieval fortresses, cattle, poppies and great gastronomy are the highlights of this region.
The flight from Lisbon to Funchal (Madeira's capital) takes 1 hour and you have two companies operating from Lisbon: TAP and SATA, both Portuguese. Apart from these, there are many charter flights from other European gateways like London and Frankfurt but these are usually sold as part of a package.
I hope to have answered your questions!
Regards,

Guide in Amsterdam - Kees Hi Madelia,
Indeed. Holland is the proverbial flower country in springtime.
Most famous is the Keukenhof garden near Lisse, which is a landscaped park where the flower industry shows veritable seas of spectacular colorful tulips and other great floral items. Limited opening time only in spring, see internet.
A movable feast with 3D flower ornaments on floats (exhibitions in 3D on flat wagons) is taking place only one weekend a year in between Lisse and Haarlem and it is called Bloemencorso. See internet.
All over the Netherlands there are parks with tulips, roses, and the scientific parks are called Hortus Botanicus (Amsterdam, Leiden etc). Specialized botanical parks show trees from all over the world; one is situated in Hilversum.
I would be glad to take you there in my car and give background on the history!

Tourist. If that doesn't produce any results, google 'Brass Bands in Cornwall' and you'll find lots of information on various brass bands in the area.
Cornwall itself has some spectacular scenery, especially the coastline. There are lots of little craggy bays just waiting to be explored. If your visit to Mexico includes Mexico City don´t forget to visit the antropological museum. I hope this could clarify you a little, if you have any questions about I´ll gladly answer them.

Guide in Cancun - Erhard Hello Daniela, yes of course, south of the state of Quintana Roo there are some fascinating and almost unknown Mayan sites, like Calakmul which is also a Biosphere Reserve, it has huge temples in the jungle where you can see the monkeys on the trees.
Wild life is amazing down here
There is also Kohunlich, with it´s Mascaron of God of Wind.
Or Becan, Chicanna, Dzibanche.
Visiting these archaeological sites is really a very different experience as that one lived on the touristic areas as Tulum or Chichen Itza.
You can easily spend 2 or 3 days in the area.
I know the area and can design a visiti for you if you want. Send me details.
Looking forward to your comments, my best regards

It is extremely popular and you might find it difficult to book a hotel if you do not do so immediately. The best time to visit is on a weekday in the early afternoon as in the evenings the tables are pre-booked. If you are not seated you will not get served. | Thomas: Hi I would like to visit Spain during Easter time. I wish to see the celebration of La Semana Santa. In which Spanish cities is this event held and as I also love history, can you please tell me about museums and historical places which I can visit? Regards, Thomas
Guide in Malaga - Roland Hi Thomas,
actually there are many cities in Spain, in which we celebrate our Semana Santa, but for me, the most impressive and most well known ones are in Sevilla and in Malaga.
It always depends, how you feel like, when describing or living these processions. Any citizen of any city in Spain might tell you, that their Semana Santa is the best.
Since I am based in Malaga, I can tell you, that we have the Alcazaba of the XI century, the Castle of Gibralfaro of the XIV century, the roman theatre of the I A.D., and museums like: Picasso, Popular Art, CAC, Foundation & Birthplace of Picasso, Thyssen museum, Automobile Museum, Crystal Museum, Fine Art Museum (near future). And this only in the Capital of Málaga.
If you come to Málaga, you are right in the center, from where you can travel to other cities in a day, like Seville, Granada, Ronda...
I hope that will help you out a bit.
Regards

Guide in Palma de Majorca - Miguel The Holly week. The liturgical events begin on Palm Sunday with the blessing of palms, followed by a procession that represents the triumphant entry into Jerusalem by Jesus. This is held in all the parishes. This tradition is celebrated in the whole Spain, specially famous is the one of Sevilla.
In Palma de Mallorca, there are processions every day, from Palm Sunday to Good Friday, but the most important are the ones known as Christ of the Blood (Monday and Thursday) and Holy Burial (Good Friday), which are also held in nearly all the towns on Mallorca.
On Good Friday, the spectacular "Davallament" is held at the Calvari of Pollença: the procession with the image of the dead Jesus descends the Calvari hill down the 365 stone steps, bordered by Yew trees. We also recommend the "Davallament" in the Sant Salvador enclosure of Artà, the procession in Sineu, the "Davallament" in Felanitx and the celebrations that take place at the Lluc Sanctuary. But very impressive , a kind of medieval theatre is the one celebrated inside of the Palma Cathedral. >
Guide in Palma de Majorca - Alex In Spain almost in all the cities you have this celebration, of course the most famouse places are located in Andalucia South Spain, specially in Sevilla, but of course you will find "procesiones" all over the country. In Mallorca where I live there are several parades,On Holy Thursday there are processions in all Mallorcan villages, with traditional floats representing scenes from the martyrdom of Jesus, accompanied by hundreds of penitents. The procession in Palma de Mallorca is one of the most spectacular due to the vast amount of people who take part. On Good Friday the processions of floats and penitents are repeated, and the descent of Christ from the cross is acted out. The most impressive performances take place in Artà (grounds of Sant Salvador), Pollença (Oratori del Calvari), Felanitx (in front of the Church of Sant Miquel) and in Palma.
On the morning of Easter Sunday the Procession of Reunion is held; this involves the representation of the reunion of Christ with the Virgin Mary after his resurrection. Finally, on Easter Monday most villages have pancaritats, though others wait until Angel Sunday (the Sunday after Easter); this celebration consists of climbing up to hermitages and sanctuaries to spend the day in the open air.
regarding to museums and places there are several, our spectacular gothic cathedral, the bellver castel, valldemossa and its monastry where was frederic Chopin for a winter in Mallorca 1838-1839, contemporary art museum Es Baluard or Miro museum and his house, anyway if you tell me which places are you going to visit in Spain I can send you more specifically information, best regards from Mallorca and I really hope you to visit this great island with lot of culture and historical sites, charming villages, beautiful landscapes, a place not to miss, believe me. >
Guide in Malaga - Eva Hi Thomas, the parades , or processions of the Holy Week how we call them, are celebrated in the whole of Spain, but the most solemn and impressiv are the ones of Malaga and Seville. It is really not an event to be missed. Members of Religious brotherhoods, dating back to the 15th century carry big floats with images of Mother Mary and Jesus Christ through the streets.Sometimes they are carried by up to 250 men on the shoulders.
Both cities, Seville and Malaga have a lot of history, in particular Roman and Moorish, with very interesting sites, monuments and museums.Among others, Malaga has the interesting Picasso Museum , and Seville the second biggest art gallery of Spain, Museum of Fine Arts.
While here in the south, you should not miss Granada with the most beautiful moorish palace in the world,"the Alhambra", Cordoba , where you should visit the "Mequita", the mosque, built in 785, and Jewish quarter. That is only to mention some of the historical sites.
The South of Spain has many to offer, cultural, historic, botanic, and a beautiful and varied countryside.
I hope, my answer was useful to you, kind regards Eva >

Before I book I was wondering if there are any other hotels that are similar that may be a bit better? I am looking to spend a decent amount of money so I want to be sure that the hotel I choose is worth it.
Guide in New Delhi - Krishna Dear Jacob
Made note of your proposed staty plan at Le Meridien, NEw Delhi . Would like to share following inputs which may help you decide your stay .
Location : Well located
Downtown Connaught place is walking distance
very close from some attraction like India Gate ,Presidents House.
While you stay here you can plan visit to North or South of Delhi with good connectivity by metro train or by private car
Building
High Rise building.Nothing exceptional about the building or the rooms..Like any other big brand business hotel where you expect certain standard .Lobby and rooms had been renovated a year back.
Atmosphere
Lobby is very busy all the time as local guest coming for dining are around.Less leisure and more busienss type environment.Rooms are is peaceful.
Nearby Option
Shangrila is on opposite corner however Le Meridien will always be better than them.On the same road Imperial is a great choice . Imperial ( theimperialindia.com ). It is more of a leisure hotel which has its own history.
Best wishes

Guide in Reykjavik - Stefan Hello Latosha,
It is very safe to travel in Iceland. We do have an eruption once every four to five years on the average but most of them are quite harmless.
The most recent one in Eyjafjallajokull became very famous because the ash from it affected aviation.
If it had not been for the news I would not have known about the eruption except for five days when some ash blew our way (Reykjavik is 80 km / 50 miles from the volcano). >
| Rick Mikol: While I am in Hungary I want to check out some of the wineries that are located in the country. Are there any wineries that you know of that are perfect for tourists and aren’t highly expensive? I am a red wine drinker and would love to be able to taste freshly made Hungarian wine. | |
Guide in Budapest - Zoltan Hungary has 22 different wine regions. Some of those are world famous(Tokaj, Eger). Tokaj is known of its white wine and the "Bull's Blood of Eger" is the most noted red wine in Hungary.
Other great "red areas" are Villány and Sopron.
There are smaller and bigger cellars and companies where clients can have tasting (in some places it is available to look around as well).
I'd recommend Eger (this is the closest to Budapest and the town itself is worth visiting too. >
Guide in Budapest - Zoltan Sorry, almost forgotten:in Eger it’s also possible to visit the vineyard of one of Hungary’s top winemakers. Here you are escorted around and informed about their every day routin.
Of course, I can take you there. >
Guide in Budapest - Katalin Hello! I am happy that you visit Hungary. There are many wineries, it depends, how much you are willing to travel from Budapest. The nearest real red wine area is about 120-140 km (70-80 miles) from Budapes: cities Eger Villany, Szekszárd. But, at about 40 km (25 miles) I know a very good winery where you can taste all kinds of quality wines from all around the country. But that is mainly a white wine growing area.
I can take you there by car.
My fees are: 180-220 EUR/day depending on the distance: this includes car, gas, parking and me driving, guiding and translating. If you decide to rent a car and you want to drive, my fee for the day is 150 EUR/day.
This price is not per person, but per tour.
Yours sincerely,
Katalin Decsenyi, guide in Hungary >

Guide in London - Robina There are lots of breweries across Britain and they all brew their own beers. Some are big chains owning lots of pubs, others are small micro-breweries.
The British beer is called 'BITTER' and is sold as a half pint or pint. The other type of beer is 'LAGER', which is the lighter German style beer. Bitter should be drunk cool, not chilled, otherwise you lose some of the flavour.
Most pubs will have a selection of Bitters and Lagers for sale. The best thing is to go into a pub and ask for their local bitter. Then enjoy! >

skip the Irish and British bars, Eva; the Ungelt bar Legends doesnt exist anymore, its Dubliner thesedays and its overpriced even more than Legends used to be! Place where you can watch the match is BEER-FACTORY - thats on the Wenceslas Square - on the top near the Museum building, google the name and in case you bigger group, bar will ask you to pay a deposit for consumation, but you will save yourself a lot of money once you skip the overpriced Irish and British bars.
In most of the traditional Czech pubs is no sky TV, so if you want to watch an international match, Beer Factory is the only place inexpensive option in the centre. I bring my groups there, friendly stuff, easy to deal with, nice interior and cheap!! Have fun! >

If you are coming to Santiago I recomend to visit the Central Market in order to taste the best chilean fresh fish and shell fish we have. This is a popular place where all locals go and tourist too. After that, I recomend during the night to visit some Neighborhood with many atractions for young and adult people in music meaning. People playing at pubs and restaurants, theatre with concert alive. This is about the cultural part of the city.
Apart of the description above, I can say that
Santiago city is the principal administrative, commercial, cultural, financial and governmental organisms of the country, with the exception of the National Congress located in Valparaiso port, at 1 hour and a half in a trip car towards the coast.
Also Santiago is divided in 37 communes, to an average altitude of 1800 feet over sea level. Nowadays it is near 6 million inhabitants, representing 25 % of the total population of the country. In agreement with the above mentioned numbers, Santiago, in addition, is the most inhabited seventh city of Latin America and, according to some estimations, one of 50 metropolitan areas more filled with the world.
Santiago is considered to be the third Latin-American city with better quality of life, after Montevideo in Uruguay and Buenos Aires in Argentina, as well as a global city of “alpha class“, at a height of Amsterdam, Stockholm or Rome. Finally, it is considered to be the best second city to do business in Latin America, and 53ª City with major income of the world, with a GDP (PPA) of US$120.000 million in 2010 and a estimated one of US$160.000 million about 2020.
The most interesting places to visit being in the city are the following ones:
Santa Lucia´s Hill, The Moneda Palace , The Army Square with the Cathedral, central Market, Pre-Columbian Museum, Neighborhood Paris and London,San Cristobal ´s Hill , Neighborhood Bellavista, Neighborhood Vitacura, the Dominicans village, between others as the cultural part.

Guide in Sofia - Pavlina Dear Sir,
Thank you for your interest in the sightseeing of Sofia and Bulgaria. Based on the requirements that you expose, I would suggest you stay in Grand Hotel Sofia - a perfect location and extremely very professional service. You will also be in a proximity to all the main landmarks in Sofia as well as many bars and restaurants.
From Sofia you can do some one day tours: to the town of Plovdiv, to the Rila Monastery, to the village of Koprivshtitsa. You could also visit the town of Veliko Tarnovo (I would suggest with one overnight there) or even go further to the sea coast. Should you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will gladly send you possibilities and details.
Sincerely,
Pavlina

I would be glad to give you a suggestion, too, but first of all it is good to know whether you prefer the coastal line for a stay, the spa resorts, or the capital - Sofia. Each one has a great number of possibilities to offer, just be more particular about the location you prefer >

| Perry Cord: What is the best type of currency to use in Brazil? I will be in the country for two weeks and plan to take things back home with me! I want to be able to have my currency exchanged before I come to the country so that I am able to buy things freely without having to deal with any sort of issues. | |
Guide in Rio de Janeiro - Martha Brazilian currency is REAL.
Under our Legilation, no other currency should be accepted in the National Territory!
I observe that the exchange rates
Any Currency x Braziian Real tend to be:
1. Better if exchanged in Brazilian land in our "Câmbio e Turismo" Street Shops.
2. "Câmbio e Turismo" Airports' Shops would be similar - second position.
3. Hotels - thrid position
4. "Purchasing" reais in your home town previous to departure isn't clever!
Important Tip
Traveler Checks are not very welcome. Lines to attend are to be expected when exchanging them down her! >
Guide in Foz do Iguasu - Edir Hi Perri,
In Iguassu falls you can use real, argentinean peso, or dollars..there are many exchange or cambios. >
Guide in Rio de Janeiro - Leticia Hello Perry,
Brazilian currency is called Real. Tourist attractions and on some touristic neighborhoods like Copacabana you`ll find stores that accept us dollars.
The best is using your credit card which is largely accept in Brazil and you can also use to withdraw money from an atm machine (there are plenty machines all around) and so avoid the big discounts on the exchange process. >

I can say very basic phrases such as hello, how are you, goodbye, and I have a small grasp on how to ask common questions. Is English popularly spoken in Argentina or will there be a language barrier I have to face?
Guide in Buenos Aires - Pablo Hello Jason!
How are you there? I hope fine! Well, no many taxi or bus drivers speaking english, but with the basic spanish and dictionary you can live, I mean is not to quit travel here due to luck of spanish!
Kind regards,
Pablo > | |
Guide in Buenos Aires - Patricia Hello Jason, here in Buenos Aires all the people conected in the tourism world is speaking in english. I mean restaurants, shops hotels and obviously tourists guides, specially in tourist areas. Is a fact that taxis and bus drivers do not speak, but with a hand dictionary you´ll be okay. Good luck in your stay and don´t hesitate to contact us. >
Guide in Buenos Aires - Patricia Hi!!! Here in Argentina most of the people working in touristic areas like shops and hotels and restaurants have english spoken staff. But could be more difficult to find this language skill in some other areas. I don´t know which places you are going to visit.
Any way, I could say some typical prases you should need to know, just ask again and send a list of what you think will need.
Regards
Carina. > | |
Guide in Buenos Aires - Liz We speak Spanish and not all the people speak english if you want to tour. You can manage to ask but you have to be careful at taxis or wherever as you are a tourist. People are very nice and friendly but you can find some few that can ruin your day. >

| Alexia: Hello, I adore Baroque art and love to opt for holidays were I can appreciate this artistic style. I am very interested to see Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio's works and to admire the architecture built during the knights of St. John in Malta. Can you please advice me about the right places to visit? Kind regards, Alexia | |
Guide in Valletta - Alyona Good Afternoon, I suggest you visit Valletta, especially St.John\'s Co-Cathedral which host a Museum of Caravaggio. Also in Valletta you will find many interesting buildings and palaces, most of the build by the Knights. But I would also recommend to visit the Mdina and Birgu - beautifull medieval places (but you will find buildings of different architecture styles). In any case - Malta is very small and you will not need much time to move from one place to another. If you have any questtions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Best Regards, Alyona >
Guide in Valletta - Karina Hi Alexia, by all means Valletta, the capital city is the right place for you to visit. It was built by the knights of St John. Caavadggio masterpiece is inside the oratory- The Beheading of st John. And also another work by Caravadggio is in there. St Jerome. Also in the same place. >
