Tour Price : Euro 190 per tour in a car. The price does not include entrance fees. Duration : 8-hour Languages: Hungarian, English, French

After Szentendre and Visegrad (see in the 6-hour driving tour) we will go on to Esztergom. Esztergom is a charming little baroque town in northern Hungary, about 50 km north-west of the capital Budapest. It lies in Komárom-Esztergom county, on the right bank of the river Danube, which forms the border with Slovakia there. And Esztergom used to be the first capital of Hungary (the 10th till the mid-13th century) and still today the centre of the Roman Catholic Church. The city has the Kereszteny Museum, the largest ecclesiastical collection in Hungary.

We will visit the grand Cathedral on the Castle hill, its famous Treasury and Cardinal Mindszenty Memorial. You will enjoy the view of the river our first kings saw from their castle.

The Esztergom Basilica is an ecclesiastic basilica in Esztergom, Hungary. It’s the main church of the Archdiocese of Esztergom-Budapest, and the seat of the Catholic Church in Hungary. Basilica built between 1820 and 1870 as the largest church in the country and one of the largest in the world. It is dedicated for Saint Adalbert and the Blessed Virgin Mary Taken into Heaven.

The altarpiece is the largest painting in the world painted on a single piece of canvas (13*6,5 m). The only medieval building of the cathedral that prevailed, one of the most magnificent buildings of the Reneissance era, the Bakocz chapel was built in the southern side of the Basilica.

In the upstairs rooms of the Basilica, visitors can feast one's eyes upon the masterpieces of the world-famous Cathedral Treasury. Hungary’s richest religious treasury, jewel and textile collection is significant on a worldwide scale. The most significant pieces of the filigrees are the coronation cross from the Arpad era, and the Mathias Calvary, that is made of gold and decorated with pearls, jewels.
