Chianti is probably the most popular of area in Tuscany. It own its popularity to the matchless wine produced there. As a professional private guide in Florence I would strongly advice you to take this tour. On our way to Chianti you will be able to enjoy the wonderful view of Italian natural beauty: high hills, sublime mountains and picturesque plains.
Chianti is a famous tourist attraction and it is definitely worth seeing! You will find there lovely country houses, which are carefully restored after the models of 800 years old houses. All these dwellings are surrounded with an age-old forest, numerous vineyards and of course olive trees. We will make a stop in Greve which is considered to be the capital of Chianti. We will explore several most popular tourist attractions of the town: souvenir shops, the Wine museum, the central square. After that we will pass through another small town – Panzano – and reach a winery. The owner of the winery will show us all the stages of wine production and you will learn a lot of interesting information about the peculiarities of the Italian wine.
Of course you will have an opportunity to taste several kinds of the wine produced in Chianti. We will have a break at a typical Italian trattoria, and then proceed to Castellina. It is a lovely place with numerous tourist attractions. We will walk along the narrow winding streets and explore the local beauties and places of interest. Any private guide in Florence would advice you to take a look at the Rocca palace and its medieval tower.

In the middle of March I booked a Guided Wine tour in the Chianti region with Massimo, for the 28th of April 2014.
Unfortunately on the day I was send a "driver" in a minibus
who didn't know anything about the area, its flora, its trees nor anything about the wine production and who needed an IPhone and google maps to find its way to the wineries.
This after having spend the 5 previous days with excellent guides was disappointing to say the least.
