At the end of the late bronze age and the beginning of the Iron age the period of the three Biblical Kingdoms started in Jordan, it was a different Period when the country established as a Kingdoms and before that it was the period of the city state, Amman was the Capital of one of the three Biblical Kingdoms, the Capital of the Amonite Kingdom ( Kingdom Of Amon ) and the name of the city was Rabbath Ammon, which was built at the top of one of the seven hills in the city, the middle one , Rabbath Amon means the hill of Amon, at the period of the tenth century BC King David send his solders to fight the Amonite, and they won that fight which was mention in the records of the old Testament.

The Three Biblical kingdoms in Jordan were destroyed by the Assyrian at the fifth century BC, they occupied the region until 332 BC when Alexander the great defeated the Assyrian and pushed them to the east, the Hellenistic period started in our region, they started to built the cities again, like Amman and named it Philadelphia around the third century BC, built new cities like Jerash named it Jerasa, Um Qais named it Gadara and Tabaqet Phahel named it Pella, at 63 BC the Roman Empire Pompey fought the Greek and defeated them, new era started the Roman Period who declared the Decopolis, the League of the 10 economic cities, Philadelphia was one of them because these cities where at the trade route, and exactly and the intersection of the trade route, which made the city flourished and very rich, The Byzantine priod started at 324 AD and the city held its glory, until the Islamic conquer at 632 AD, so the city took its old name Amman, during the second Islamic era the Ummayed the city and the Citadel was built again and flourished, but the huge earthquake destroyed the city at the 8th century ended the glory of the city, and Abandoned, different era's came over it like the Abbasid, Ayobids, Mongols, Mamloks and the Ottomans who stayed until 1916 AD when the Great Arab Revolution started against them commanded By the Hashemite, 1921 the establishment of Trans Jordan, 1946 the establishment of The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, where the Capital Amman started to flourish again.
