The Avenue of the Baobabs, or Alley of the Baobabs, is a prominent group of roughly 30 baobab trees along a 260 m stretch of the road

This location is located at 21km from Morondava city or between Morondava and Belo sur Tsiribihina.

. Its striking landscape draws travelers from around the world, making it one of the most visited locations in the region.

It has been a center of local conservation efforts, and was granted temporary protected status in July 2007 by the Ministry of environment water and forest , a step toward making it Madagascar’s first natural monument

A fully day is permitting you to visit both this amazing place and the great kiridny forest national park

I would like to give you below details of the plan when you will do this tour from my services

Day 1- from 7: 00AM to 10:00AM

The driver will pick you up from your Hotel in Morondava at 7:00am. Please let us know the name of your Hotel in Morondava.

You will get on board a vehicle 4x4 and then you will drive to the baobab alley.

From your Hotel to the baobab alley, there is 21km and you will drive over an asphalted road over 14km and then 7km more is a dirt road until to the location where you will admire this amazing baobab alley.

 

You will stop for clicking pictures of the baobab alley.

 

The best time to click pictures at this location is during the sunset but now, you get to there around 8:00am so you just take few pictures only and then you keep driving to kirindy forest natural reserve which is still located at 50km from this baobab alley.

 

You will get to kirindy forest natural reserve at 10:30am and you meet your park guide who will accompany you in the Park.

 

From 10:30am to 12:30pm

 

The hike lasts roughly 2 hours inside this park and during that hike; you will try to spot 2 species of lemurs:

 

- the white lemurs called sifaka or dancing lemur

-and the common drown lemur called Gidro

 

You will see more wild animals also inside the park like Fossa known as the lemur’s predator in Madagascar. Fossa is a carnivorous animal and kirindy forest is the only place where you may see it in Madagascar. However, since this is a wild animal sometime, you will not see this animal, Thus, you need to be lucky one to see him.

 

You will see as well more species of birds. Kirindy forest is recommended to the people who like doing birds watching tour in Madagascar and inside this park, you may see the paradise fly catcher, Madagascar drongo, Parrot, Madagascar coua, Magpie robin, common jerry, nightjar ….and many others.

 

If you visit kirindy forest from December to March, you can see more reptiles inside the park such as uguana, snakes, and chameleons.

 

Only in kirindy forest, you can see the Male baobab tree in the world.

 

About 12:30pm.you walk back to the car park and you will meet the driver. You will get on board the car and will drive to Le relais de kirindy restaurant.

 

You will arrive at le relais de kirindy restaurant at 1:00pm and you can start ordering your lunch over there.

 

During the time you are waiting for your lunch to be served, you can swim at the swimming pool nearby.

 

From 2:00pm to 7:00pm

After your lunch, you drive back to Morondava and you will depart from le relais de kirindy restaurant at 2:00pm.

 

On the way back, you will stop at the famous baobab in love and click pictures of it. The baobab in love is not far from the baobab alley and between the baobab in love and the baobab alley; you will have time to click pictures of the 3 different species of baobab trees growing in this area.

 

1-The tallest one is the andasonia grandidier

2-the fat one is the botled baoaba or baobab fony

3-And the common size one is the renala, this is not very tall nor fat but it has a medium size

 

After clicking pictures of these three species of baobab trees. You keep driving to the baobab alley and you will get to there at 5;00pm.

 

The driver will wait for you at the car park and you can stay at baobab alley until the sun goes down.

 

Usually, the tourists have some cold drinks or snacks in a small restaurant near the baobab alley until the time for clicking pictures of the sunset takes place.

 

The pictures of the sunset are very wonderful through the baobab trees and you can try to find your best angle to make your best pictures.

 

After sunset, you join the driver at the car park and you will slowly drive back to Morondava.

You will get to Morondava at 7;00pm
