Mali Adventure Tour 6 Days/5 nights Validity: all the year ITINERARY

Day 1 Arrival in Bamako, Mali International flight arrives in Bamako in the evening; airport-to-hotel transfer; overnight in Bamao (Grand Hotel, or similar)

Day 2 Bamako - Mopti (640 km) (B) 7-hour drive to Mopti, with sightseeing en route; dinner and overnight in Mopti (Hotel Kanaga, or similar)

Day 3 Mopti / Niger River (B) Mopti city tour: visit the famous Sudanese-style mud brick mosque, the port, the market; enjoy a sunset sail on the Niger River in a traditional riverboat; overnight in Mopti (Hotel Kanaga, or similar)

Day 4 Mopti - Djenne (130 km) - Dogon country (230 km) (B) Excursion to Djenne: see the magnificent Great Mosque, the world's largest mud brick structure, and one of Unesco's World Heritage sites; continue on to Dogon country; visit the Dogon village Songo; see its world-renowned rock paintings and circumcision grotto; overnight in Sangha (Hotel Campement Guina, or similar)

Day 5 Dogon country - Segou (505 km) (B) Visit Sangha, Ogols and Bongo; see the traditional women's house, the fetish altar of the Hogon (the Dogon people's traditional and religious leader); visit a Dogon seer; optional hike down the Bandiagara Escarpment to the village Banani; then depart Dogon country and drive (~5 hours) to Segou; overnight in Segou (Hotel Independance, or similar)

Day 6 Segou - Bamako (235 km) - final departure (B) Tour of Segou, Mali's second largest city, and Sekoro, ancient capital of the Bambara kingdom, now just a sleepy village on the river; see the tomb of King Biton Coulibaly; 3-hour drive to Bamako; Bamako city tour (as time permits): the National Museum, the city market, the artisans' village; in the evening, transfer to the airport for your final departure.
