At a distance of 30 km from Chisinau, specifically in the village Bulboaca is located the first castle in Moldova - Castle MIMI, which is a destination of international interest, unique in Moldova.

Castle story begins in 1893 when Constantin Mimi, the last governor of Bessarabia, planted the first seedlings of grape vines on the site that would become legend over the years.

Mimi was a great innovator of the times – he raised the Castle by a French project, first used in reinforced concrete and for construction, he invited Italians engineers. Curiously, the restoration of the castle to be led, after almost a century, also by an Italian designer.

In the Soviet period, Constantin Mimi's complex was nationalized and hidden from the world.Only in 2010, during some routine work, workers removed clad facade of the building, discovering a true architectural gem.Then it was decided restore fundamental Castle: each brick was polished as special rehabilitation technologies;they were rediscovered and valorized cellars and underground galleries.

In one of the underground halls was kept a wall with tiles - as it was during the Soviet era - and it's a part of history Castle Mimi. It is curious that the cellar ventilation is through breathing holes built 100 years ago, they were then and are now effective. More than a century Castle MIMI catch its second life.
