During my walking tour in Tangier you will discover the old town and we will leave the modern part of the city behind us. We will start at the Kasbah (citadel) which is the heart and the soul of Tangier. The old town is an area of palaces and some great landmark buildings such as Dar el Makhzen, the sultan's palace in which you will find the Museum of Antiquities.

We will then follow the steps of the famous French painter Henri Matisse who was inspired by the colors and lights of the old city. The Kashba' square is famous for its cultral events for the public. In particular the "Cercle de musique arabo-andalouse" - African rhythm of Gnaoua groups and snake charmers who perform every day in the square.

The Medina (medieval city) is characterized by its narrow alleys, the architectural treasures and exotic souks (market place) where you can purchase traditional Moroccan items and souvenirs.

Our walking tour gives you additionally the opportunity to try authentic Moroccan dishes like cous-cous, tagines, kebabs and the fine flavor of mint tea.

Another great place to visit is the Petit socco with its nice cafés and hotels which used to be the  second homes for the city's celebrities – P. Bowles, Jean Genet, Paul Morand Pasolini, and Camille Saint-Saens. The Grand socco on the other hand is probably the busiest place in the city next to Mendoubia Park where you can find a huge Banyan tree and the old residency of the Sultan Representative during the international period.

At the end of tour we will see the American Legation Museum which is considered a National Historic Landmark for its importance in the history of the US.
