Halloween in Transylvania: Visit the world famous vampire at his own house

Transylvania - the name itself is enough to send an chills down the spine of even the most fearless traveler. Now imagine being there, in person, when the clock clangs midnight… on Halloween! Romania ranks as one of Europe’s most charming and unexplored regions, stunning visitors with its stunning Gothic architecture, enveloping forests and friendly people. But as idyllic as it is by day, the real fun happens at night—particularly Halloween, when we’ll treat you to a costume party in an authentic location.

Halloween in Transylvania offers a 8 day trip back in time, revealing the genuine historical facts and places related to walachian prince Vlad the Impaler aka Dracula.  ​

Itinerary:

29 Oct - Welcome to Romania! Transfer to hotel. As your fellow travellers are arriving throughout the day, there are no planned activities until your Group Meeting in the evening. After the meeting enjoy a traditional Romanian dinner at Dracula Club.

30 Oct - Bucharest - Snagov - Bistrita

In the morning we will go on a panoramic tour of Bucharest, followed by visits at:

Parliament Palace - Built by Communist Party leader, Nicolae Ceausescu, the colossal Parliament Palace is the second largest administrative building in the world after the Pentagon. The interior is a luxurious display of crystal chandeliers, mosaics, oak paneling, marble, gold leaf, stained-glass windows and floors covered in rich carpets; and

Village Museum - Founded in 1936, this fascinating outdoor museum, the largest in Europe, covers some 30 acres on the shores of Lake Herastrau in Herastrau Park. It features a collection of 50 buildings representing the history and design of Romania's rural architecture.

We continue with the famous Snagov Monastery the burial place of Dracula. Around 2 PM we will start our journey to spooky Transylvania. Don't forget to pack your garlic! *Dinner and accommodation at Dracula Castle Hotel in Bistrita.

31 Oct - Bistrita Tour & Halloween Party

In the morning visit the Museum of Ethnography and Folk Art and the Gothic Cathedral in Bistrita. Free time after lunch to prepare your costume for the big event. Halloween night will include a delicious traditional Romanian festive dinner in the company of wondering spirits, excellent Romanian wine and a very special programme including a Witch Trial, Killing of the Living Dead Ritual and many other dark surprises.

01 Nov - Bistrita - Sighisoara

Sighisoara is one of the few inhabited fortified towns in the world and it provides a splendid example of medieval town planning. Here, all the elements of the medieval world have been perfectly preserved. Here is Vlad Dracula’s birth place! For your lunch we recommend ‘Vlad Dracul’s House’, the very place where Dracula was born. In the evening take a walk in the most creepy cemetery in Transylvania.

Tour highlights: The Clock Tower & History Museum, The Church on the Hill, House of Dracula, The pupils roofed stairways.

02 Nov - Sighisoara - Biertan - Sibiu

Fortified Church of Biertan - The architectonic ensemble from Biertan impresses by a harmonious matching in position, by its aesthetic and historic value and especially by the original substance preserved since the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century, characteristics which determined its inclusion on The UNESCO List of World Patrimony.  On this day we will see an excellent example of German Gothic architecture, Sibiu fortress town.

Highlights: Evangelical Church, Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral, The Bridge of Lies, Historical Center, The Stairs Passage, Brukenthal Museum, Towers and Bastions.

03 Nov - Sibiu - Curtea de Arges - Poienari - Brasov

In the morning we depart for Brasov, on the way we visit Curtea de Arges Monastery and the Fortress of Poenari, the most important of Vlad the Impaler's strongholds.

04 Nov - Brasov - Bran - Bucharest

Walking tour of Brasov Council Square also known as the historical town center. Afterwards we will drive to Bran to visit the legendary Castle of Dracula or Bran Castle, the symbol of Transylvania. Bran owes its fame both to its unique charm and to the myth Bram Stoker created around Dracula.

05 Nov - Say goodbye to your new friends! Airport transfer.
