DAILY PROGRAM:

Day 1: - pick up from Otopeni Airport in Bucharest;

- departure to Brasov; check-in at the hotel;

- evening walk in the old historical center;

- dinner and accommodation in Brasov or area;

Day 2: - breakfast;

- visit the Harman Fortified Church which dates back to the 13th century;  we’ll admire the  blend of the  Romanesque style with the  Gothic elements and its valuable frescos;

- we will then visit the UNESCO Heritage of  Prejmer (the biggest fortified church in the Southeastern Europe built in the 14th century, it preserves the strongest village fortress in Southern Transylvania);

- dinner and accommodation in Brasov or area;

Day 3: -breakfast;

- we will visit the ethnographical museum in Brasov where we can learn about the local traditions;

- visit  the countryside to watch on the spot some of the still existing local crafts: whirlpools, watermill;  we will also see the site of an ancient Fairy Temple carved in stone, now an orthodox monastery;

- return to Brasov for dinner;

- accommodation in Brasov or area;

Day 4:- breakfast;

-visit the Bran Castle and the Old Customs House Museum;

-in the evening we will have a medieval dinner at the Cetate (fortress) Restaurant in Brasov where we will be accompanied by the local Philharmonic. In the Medieval Salon we can enjoy a recital including chamber music, dance and arias of classical and pre-classical music;

- accommodation in Brasov or area;

Day 5: - breakfast;

-today we  will cross the Transfagarasan Road situated at the highest altitude 2034m/6672ft. in Romania. The road was described by BBC’s “Top Gear”: ”the road with the best scenery in the world”. On Transfagarasan we will see the Balea Lake, Balea Fall and the Goat Fall.

After crossing the longest tunnel (884m/2917 ft.) in Romania we will descend to one of the biggest artificial lake (Vidraru Lake) from Romania and to the Vidraru Dam (which has the highest bungee jumping platform in Europe);

 We will pass near one of Tepes castles (Vlad Tepes is the well known Dracula Castle) Poienari Castle and Curtea de Arges monastery;

-accommodation and late dinner in Brasov or in the nearby area;

Day 6: - breakfast;

- visit: Saschiz where we will meet authentic peasants;

In Saschiz  we will visit a local sheepfold where we can attend traditional cheese making, ‘Meet the Bees’ with local honey-producers and see traditional bread baking. Optionally: other activities also available;

- traditional lunch in a peasant courtyard;

- return to Brasov for dinner and accommodation;

Day 7 : -breakfast;

- departure to Bucharest ;

- visit Bucharest: Village Museum and the Palace of Parliament (the 2nd biggest administrative building in the world, after the Pentagon);

- dinner and accommodation in Bucharest;

Day 8 : -breakfast;

- transfer to the airport.
