Located beside the Warta River in southern Poland, Czestochowa is a city of world-wide renown. Millions of visitors come every year on a pilgrimage to visit the famous Jasna Gora Monastery, where they can view the shrine to the Virgin Mary and the Black Madonna painting.

There are many interesting sights in Czestochowa besides Jasna Gora, including quite a few important monuments. There is the Monument of Jesus Christ, the Pope John Paul II monument and a monument to his parents, Emilia and Karol Wojtyla senior. There’s also a massive monument to Jasna Gora Cardinal Wyszynski.

Other notable attractions in Czestochowa are the Sundial in Stanislaw Staszic Park, the Czestochowa Bell, a Lusatian culture museum and excavation site, and the ruins of the medieval Castle of Olsztyn, and Czestochowa City Hall. Holy Virgin Mary Avenue is breathtaking sight in daylight and equally beautiful all lit up in the evening.
