Once there, we’ll start our journey through the numerous sites this marvelous city has to offer. Known for its peculiar aura, Alexandria was always different from the other cities of Egypt because it was incepted by Alexander the Great much later than most of the ancient cities, and always had a strong influence from Greece and then Rome. This is particularly seen in the architecture of the older parts of the city and of course the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa, which feature a pronounce blend of Egyptian and Greco-Roman styles in the way the tombstones and statues were made. Nearby, we’ll visit the Pompey’s Pillar, erected to praise Emperor Diocletian.

We’ll also visit the place where the famous Library of Alexandria once stood, and its modern reincarnation nearby. And we’ll stop by the site where the famous Lighthouse used to stay before collapsing into the sea after a series of earthquakes that ruined the building more than a thousand years ago.
