The impressive secret itineraries of the Palazzo Ducale allow access to some of the rooms where during the era of the ‘Serenissima’ very important and very delicate meetings were held related to the administration of the Venetian Republic and the exercise of power: a unique opportunity to reflect on the history of the city, its political and administrative organization and most especially its method of dispensing justice. The itinerary will also include a visit to: the ‘piombi’, the famous ‘lead’ cells of the Palace including the cell which also housed the famous libertine and lover, Giacomo Casanova; the disturbing hall of tortures and the incredible floor of the Upper Council. The tour takes about an hour and we suggest that you combine this visit with a visit to the rest of the Palazzo Ducale and possibly to St Mark's Square. The tour must be booked in advance at the administrative offices of the Palace so an early confirmation is required as soon as possible. The entrance ticket is not included.
