I welcome you to the exclusive tour dedicated to the past and present of the local Jewish community (one of the largest in Europe). The tour invariably includes a visit to the Grand Choral Synagogue, a spectacular building in Moresque style, constructed in 1893 and now being renovated recently.Except for the Synagogue we will drive along Kolomna district, which used to be a real Jewish neighborhood. We will stop by the Conservatoire, founded by Anton Rubenstein, which has always had numerous Jewish students, then Galernaya street to see former ORT-school.
We will take a look at the Peter and Paul fortress, where III Lubavich Rabbi Schneerson was imprisoned at the end of the XVIII century. Upon your wish the tour can be complimented with a visit to Jewish cemetery and to the Elizarov apartment - a well-preserved house of an upper-middle class Jewish family, relatives to Vladimir Lenin.
Along the way we will talk a lot about the history of the Jewish community in St.Pete as well as in whole Russia, about past and present days.
