Guilin was founded in 314 BC, in the Qin Dynasty. It was a little settlement on the Lijiang River. The imperial court could thus send food and provisions by water from the Yangzi plains to its armies in the south of China. The city became the provincial capital in the Ming Dynasty, and stayed so until 1914, when the metropolis was carryed to Nanning. Today, a total population of Guilin is about 1,3 million people. Guilin considers as one of the worlds most a fine, handsome places has become created over hundreds of years and values second on China list of the 10 best tourist destinations.
