 Information about Paris
Airport - Charles de Gaulle International Airport (Roissy ICAO: LFPG, IATA: CDG) to the north-east of the city is one of the major hub airports of Europe. It's notoriously confusing, so allow plenty of time for transfers. There are three terminals: Terminal 1, Terminal 2 (which is huge and subdivided into 2A through 2F), and Terminal 3 (formerly T9). The free CDGVAL shuttle train connects the terminals together. Everything at this airport is very expensive and especially the basics like food. There are also hardly any benches around.
Shopping - Paris is of course one of the great fashion centers of the Western world, up there with New York, London, and Milan, making it a great place to do clothes shopping. For the high end, the area around Place Vendome is known for its jewelery shops as e.g. Cartier. Rue de Rivoli from Louvre to Place de la Concorde has a number of sophisticated shops. And of course you shouldn't miss Gallerie Lafayette and Le Printemps (both in the 2nd close to the Operahouse) and BHV which you can find in the Le Marais district in the 4th near the Hotel de Ville. Owing to the its history of as a mostly Jewish neighborhood most of the shops in much of Le Marais are open on Sundays.

My name is David I live in Paris. I was frustrated because I was not able to give my attention to 80 people so I decided to create my own tour-guide company, France Travel Tour to give a better service to tourists. It includes private guided tour with a french guide, but also a hotel reservation service. During my tours I collect information from tourists to improve my service, and I often keep contact with them.

Nina Donovan: Is there anything to do outside Paris, or it’s the only interesting place in France?
Answer about Kafari David Kafari David: Certainly, there’s a lot to enjoy outside Paris since France is such a diverse country that is well suited for tourism. You can enjoy the beautiful Mediterranean coast to the south, or slightly desolate Atlantic coast to the west. Loire Valley and Champagne region will deliver great experience to wine lovers and history aficionados, while the Rhone-Alps region is a great place for various winter sports. So if you’ll have the opportunity to travel outside Paris during your vacation don’t hesitate to do so.
Dmitrios Jones: Should I learn some French before visiting Paris?
Answer about Kafari David Kafari David: If your visit is short, then there’s certainly no need in learning the language more than the basic “hi”, “thank you” and “goodbye”. However, if you’re planning a long stay, be prepared that no one will answer you in English, even if they’ll understand you. Parisians are very sensitive in their national attitude and don’t think that they should know how to speak English in their own country. So having a long conversation may be a bit problematic if you don’t learn at least essential French expressions.
Dora Jumer: Is Paris an expensive city to live in?
Answer about Kafari David Kafari David: Yes, it is. Maybe it’s not as costly as London, Tokyo, New York or Moscow from the tourist’s point of view, but it’s certainly not cheap. This is especially true if you’ll try to get some coffee or dinner around Champs Elysees or visit the shops right in the center. The further you go from major tourist attractions the more affordable things become.
Lina Lanski: Is there any convenient way to get around the city? And can I get a pass for all the museums?
Answer about Kafari David Kafari David: The most convenient way to get around Paris is the metro. Multiple bus routes can get you between stations more accurately, while the underground trains are really fast and reliable. You can get a pass for all public transportation in order to save time and money. And if you want to go to all the museums and major attractions consider buying a Paris Pass. This little card provides free transportation, attendance to numerous museums and significant discounts at different cafes, restaurants and shops. A must-have for a tourist who’s taking a long vacation in this city.
Anna Zipone: Speaking of guides, do I really need one in Paris, or I just can enjoy the city all by myself?
Answer about Kafari David Kafari David: Any city is much better to explore when you have a person who can guide you and tell you more about the city. Of course, good guides don’t come cheap, but you can take at least a general tour of the city to have a general impression and see what’s where. Or you can take your time learning more about the city on the Internet and then strolling through it on your own if you’re that type of a person.
