Yes, i can help. In South Albania you can visit Gjirokastra castle and the castle of Butrinti. Of course there is more to visit.
Thanks for your message. Please feel free to contact me any time.
Hi Arens,
I am thinking of visiting saranda for a few days at the end of August with my three children. We will fly to Corfu and come over by boat. We are looking for a guide to show us the sights for one or two days, and maybe some help with finding accommodation and some advise on how to get about. I have been to Tirana with my two eldest children last year and loved it so we thought we would have a look at the coast this time.
If you can help please get back to me with an idea of the cost.
Many thanks Tamra Walker-Reid

Hello.
Thanks for contacting me. You did a good choice to visit the Albanian Coast. It offers a lot of great things.
From Saranda to Vlora that's all the coast, so for 3 days you can visit most of it. I would suggest you to do this itinerary:
>First Day- Saranda (visiting Butrint archeological site)
>Second Day- Gjirokastra, (2 hrs from Saranda, a beautiful ottoman style city)
>Third Day- Back to Saranda and visit all the riviera (coastline), Himara, Porto-Palermo, Dhermi, Borsh, Vlora
>4th day- Back to Saranda

The price for all it, car and my guiding service will be 30 euro a day for the car, and 80 euro for me (for one day)
Tickets not included

The hotels in august time will cost from 30-100 euro for a double room. Tickets for all the places I mentioned above will cost about 10 euro for person to visit all museums. Food will cost you about 15 euro per person in 1 day.
Hello,

Since I have young children, Durres is very appealing to me as it has sandy beaches were children can enjoy themselves. Apart from the sea attraction, what historical and archaeological sites are there to discover in this location? Which other nearby cities can one visit and what tourist attractions do they offer?

Regards,
Michele

I've recently registered to this website and that's the reason for this reply after 3 years. Maybe other people with find this answer helpful in the future.
Durres is a good place if you travel with children because of sand beaches and it takes about 15-30 meters inside the sea to get in deep water. Once you are in Durres, you can visit all nearby cities like:
Apollonia Archaeological site, There you will find ruins from 500 B.C,
Kruja Castel, defended from Albanian national hero Skenderbeg for almost 1 century against Ottoman army.

Berat and its Castle. The 2400 years old city, with amazing architecture buildings, mostly houses, churches and moscs, from 12 century to the 18 century. The castle of Berat was built in the 400 B.C

In Durres you can visit the Archaeological site and Museum.

All of these locations above are 1-2 hours away from Durres.
I am looking to visit Albania and I have a pretty open schedule as to when I can take my vacation. I am wondering what is the best time to visit Albania in order to avoid extreme temperatures as well as to get the most possible out of the country?

Dear Sir/Madam, Regarding your question about vacation in Albania, please let me inform you that best time would be end of May, June, end of September, and October. Temperatures at these period vary between 23 - 31 Centigrade. Generally, end of May and June is preferred because the nature is perfect for exploration tours, but some other categories of travelers prefer Autumn, etc. As you might know, there are lots of types of activities that can be done in Albania, where we can suggest visits in archeological sites, natural beauties, historical monuments, religious heritages, museums, rural life, adventure, walking, hiking, etc. This period of the year is optimal because of the temperatures that are optimal. Another reason, is that summer time is high season, and prices are more expensive. If you can give us some more specific details, about your areas of interest, we can provide you the relevant tour program where almost all "must to see places in Albania" will be included.
That is all that we can say shortly to answer your question. If you have any other question, you are more than welcome to ask anytime.
Looking forward hearing from you, soon.
Warm regards, Alma LLUSKU, Albania Explorer
