Discover the Tigre Delta — A Relaxing and Scenic Day Trip
There are many wonderful ways to enjoy the Buenos Aires province. Whether you have a full day or a weekend, you’ll find plenty to explore. While your hotel or a quick Google search can help, I’ll be happy to give you my personal recommendations based on your interests.
One of the best options for a peaceful, nature-filled day is a tour to Tigre and the Delta — a beautiful riverside area just outside the city.
We’ll travel in a private car (up to 3 people) or a van for larger groups. On the way, we’ll enjoy a scenic drive through the northern part of Buenos Aires, passing through Palermo Park, San Isidro, and even getting a look (from the outside) at the Presidential Residence.
Once we arrive in Tigre, our first stop will be the Fruit Market (Puerto de Frutos). It’s a lively, colorful market where local artisans from the Delta’s islands sell handmade wooden goods. By buying from them, we support the local economy — and often find unique, beautiful items at prices better than in the city. You can even pick up a traditional mate (the famous Argentine herbal tea enjoyed especially by gauchos).
Next, we’ll board a boat for a 1-hour navigation through the Delta’s peaceful waterways. The area is full of charming houses on stilts, lush nature, and glamorous rowing clubs from Argentina’s golden era (1880–1920). Longer trips are possible, but most visitors find an hour to be the perfect introduction.
For those with more time, I recommend a 6-hour tour, which includes lunch at a traditional riverside restaurant dating back to the 1880s. It’s full of character, history — and great prices!
If you're short on time, a 4-hour version of the tour without lunch is also available.
Since this is a custom-made tour, we can adjust it to your schedule and preferences. For groups of 14 or more, a private boat becomes more cost-effective. Smaller groups can share a boat to reduce costs.
All boats are well-known in the Tigre area and operated by certified captains with full insurance. They include an audio guide about the Delta’s history and culture, so I can focus on your questions — or let you simply relax, take photos, and enjoy the ride.
Tigre is a great escape from the city — peaceful, scenic, and full of Argentine charm. I’d love to help you experience it. Would you like help preparing a short version for a brochure or social media?
