Built on mountains and surrounded by the Yangtze and Jialing rivers is the ‘Mountain City’ of Chongqing. The Daba Mountains are located in the north, the Wu Mountains in the east, the Wuling Mountains in the southeast and the Dalou Mountains in the south. Limestone caves, stone forests and numerous peaks can be found here. Chongqing is one of the five national central cities in the People’s Republic of China. 

Aside from the beautiful landscape there is much to see and do in Chongqing. Start with the People’s Assembly Hall where you can view architectural style used in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The China Three Gorges Museum is the perfect place to get up to speed on the history of Chongqing. With over forty exhibit halls and 100,000 pieces of relics you have a lot to learn! 

The nightlife in Chongqing takes on a life of its own as the city becomes illuminated with millions of lights reflecting off the rivers. Take a stroll along the river and enjoy a traditional Hot Pot meal from one of the many street vendors. Next make your way to the top of South Mountain and see a panoramic view of the city. Take a night time tour on a cruise ship or visit one of the many bars along the main street.
