Culture and History tour in The Hague

The Hague has an international allure, a fine blend of a cultural and businesslike gleam. Diplomats, civil servants and businessman in tailor-made suits, sophisticated expatriate women strolling along the elegant shops, palaces, courts of almshouses and....the finest art nouveau facades. We visit the policital centre (known as the Inner Court) with the Knights Hall and the Tower, working office of the Prime Minister.

The entire complex is historic and symbolizes the rationalistic aspect of Dutch society. Next to it is the Mauritshouse with its splendid collection of Dutch and Flemish Golden age painters. Most special is the interior, where the paintings are shown as they were in a former Dutch prominent house. The Lange Voorhout is a majestic street and if you are lucky, you enjoy the outdoor sculpture exhibition. Walking a little further we see the working palace of queen Beatrix at Noordeinde.

This street houses many portrait and sculpture galleries. And last but not least...those who are in for a colonial style high tea won't be disappointed in Hotel des Indes... It is possible to make the combination of a vist to The Hague with one or two of the other South Holland cities (like Delft or Gouda or Kinderdijk).
