Information about Boquete
Located on the Caldera River in the western highlands of Panama is Boquete. Known as the ‘Valley of the Flowers’ there are two fairs each year celebrating its floral flare. Due to the subtropical and tropical climates most flowers thrive in the rich volcanic soil found here. From poinsettia trees to hibiscus bushes with blossoms the size of dinner plates, the plants and flowers make this town gorgeous.
The city is small but is becoming a popular destination due to the wildlife, rainforests, mountains, flowers and many opportunities for tours, beach sports, shopping and restaurants. Because Boquete is not as well-known as other bigger cities in Panama, the prices are still low and the town is not as commercialized.
Strawberries, oranges and coffee are some of the agricultural goods that come from Boquete. Every try the famous ‘Geisha’ coffee? It’s grown here on the volcanic slopes. Boquete has something for everyone; hiking tours, jungle tours, coffee estate tours, zip-lines or white water rafting. Boquete is a great place for relaxing too and you’ll find many spas and posh hotels if needed. The club scene isn’t as happening as it is in bigger cities but you’ll still find plenty of opportunities to party in Boquete.
