I was born in a rural area of East Tennessee in 1940. At the age of 12, my family moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where I married and raised my son and daughter for 34 years before moving to the Georgia coast 35 years ago with my late wife to enjoy fishing, hunting, boating, beaching, swimming, and biking.

Am the former Flotilla Commander of the St. Simons Flotilla, U.S. Coast Auxiliary, retired with 25 years service, past president of the Darien Lions Club, member 29 years who founded an annual oyster roast still held.

I am a member of our local historical society, the Coastal History Society, and the Georgia Historical Society, the United Methodist Church, and am a member of the Georgia Board of the East Coast Greenway working to build a biking, hiking, and jogging path from Calais, Maine, to Key West, Florida.
