Amy:  Hello. My friends and I are planning a trip to Morocco this fall (2008), and I would like to inquire about using your tour company for a custom trip that would depart Marrakesh and end up in Fes. There will be three of us, and we would like a tour which departs Marrakesh in the afternoon of Sunday November 2nd and arriving in Fes on Wednesday afternoon November 5th. We would like to go through Ait Benhaddou, down to Erg Chigaga and would like to avoid going to Ouarzazte (which we understand is quite touristy). We envision an itinerary that looks something like the following: Sun. November 2, 2008 Depart Marrakesh in the afternoon travel to Ait Benhaddou and spend the night in Ait Benhaddou (which I understand is four hours from Marrakesh) We would be interested in staying at Dar Mouna, Riad Maktoub or an equivalent establishment. Mon. November 3, 2008 Tour any parts of Ait Benhaddou we did not see on Wed. (including Kasbahs) and depart for Erg Chigaga—arrive Erg Chigaga by evening. Tues. November 4, 2008 Spend the day touring the dunes and surrounding area—we would like to do a tour of the dunes on camel and would a least one night camping in the dunes (Berber tent or the like). Wed. November 5, 2008 Continue desert tour and depart for Fes at appropriate time to arrive Fes by Wed. evening. We would like to book our tour ASAP, so please let me know as soon as you can: 1. Does this itinerary looks feasible and do you have suggestions for changes/additions? 2. What activities you would recommend in addition to or instead of those listed? 3. How many people would be on the tour with us—we would like to be in a group of no more than six or eight and would be fine to be just us three (depending upon price)? 4. What vehicle would be used for the travel? 5. Would we be provided an English-speaking guide who is knowledgeable about the area? 6. What would be the price of the tour? 7. How would you like to reserve the booking (credit card etc.) and what is your cancellation policy?
Zahra:  Hi we are a group of 14 people arriving in Fez on 28th September. I am hoping you can please help us getting deals for our group. The itinerary is below and out budget is quite strict. For our itenary we were thinking to do the following: 28/9 - arrive in Fez - maybe explore for a few hours in the evening. 29/9 - take a trip to Meknes/ Voulibilis and Mouay Idriss - we are looking at prices of doing this by train/ petit taxi or just hiring a car/taxi - how much do you think we could hire a car for, for the whole day? do you think we could hire out a taxi for say 50-70 dirhams for the day or what is the cheapest we are looking at? 30/9 - no fixed plan yet - any advice? 1/10 - early morning travel to casablanca - spend the day there and arrive in marrakech in the evening (we are looking at where to hire a coach type thing or to take trains) - again if you have any advice on costs of a minubus that would be great. i guess if we could get something for say 40 euros per person that we could use for the day that would be good - that could take us from fez to marrakech stopping at casablanca along the way and maybe even rabat if they are on the same route..i'm not sure if they have minibuses that seat 14 but that may be most cost effective and ideal. 2/10 - explore marrakech - souks, bazaars etc 3/10 - travel to the ouzoud valley (is this the same as the ourika valley?) - i know they do tours in 4x4's which we are looking into - do you think we can get a good deal on this - something where they pick us us and drop us back, and we get to see the waterfalls and the monkeys? 4/10 - no plan yet - anything you would advise? overnight travel back to Fez 5/10 - spend the day in Fez and flight back to London Any advice on our proposed itienary would be much appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you. Kind Regards, Zahra
Philip:   Hi there, I’m planning to visit Morocco as part of the research I’m doing for a popular history book on the Roman frontier (the whole of it, not just the Moroccan portion). I am looking for someone to help me organize my trip. My visit will focus largely (but not exclusively) on Morocco’s Roman heritage, so I’m conscious that there are a lot of places from the pre- and post-Roman period I may not have time for.. I have made a draft itinerary which seems to indicate I will need 7 days, more or less. My most likely travel dates are in early August, perhaps from 17th August, although I have other trips in planning and so the dates could shift a bit earlier into August I need someone to act as driver/guide who is knowledgeable about Roman Morocco (although this doesn’t mean a detailed academic knowledge), and who is resourceful and good at organization. Having a driver/guide has worked well for me on other trips. If you think, on looking at the itinerary that it seems reasonable, and it is the sort of thing you would be interested in organizing, I’d be grateful if you could indicate to me the price you might charge for these services (to include all transportation (including airport transfer), guiding, guides’s expenses, and accommodation for me – I normally stay in 3*, but good, clean 2* or pension is no problem). Feel free if you think the itinerary won’t work, to say so. I am not sure, for example if doing Lixus, Banasa and Thamusada all in one day will work. The one complicating factor is that I need to visit Ceuta (Roman Septem), which I can do on my own. I would therefore need to start the main part of the tour at the Ceuta-Morocco border (unless it is easy to meet me in Ceuta, which may be doubtful) I look forward to hearing from you. With best wishes and many thanks for your assistance, Philip Parker
